In game updates?I will be there covering the game for GH!
Thanks. I was wondering what the capacity is.It will not sell out. My guess is 40-50K in a 63K capacity stadium.
Cal alum and fan here. A few tips for those who’ve never been before:
There isn’t traditional tailgating. If your alumni association is doing something that will likely be as good as it gets. Otherwise try a local sports bar.
Avoid Greek Row.
Parking is a bitch, give yourself extra time and expect a walk to the stadium.
Make a stop at Top Dog.
Visitors section seating is usually in the SE corner. If you venture just a little north and stay higher up you’ll get the magnificent view of The City and bridges.
Anything else? Ask away.
is the residence inn on shattuck? I think Jupiters still around and it was always a decent place... i wouldn't call it a "sports bar" but they have TVs and you should be able to catch a game.Any good sports bars for Sunday’s NFL games around Residence Stadium Inn Berkeley? Thank you….
Washington is definitely worth a trip. Great views of the water from the stadium (even if i, apparently in the minority, find the stadium itself pretty ugly). Their campus is a lot like Cal's, just... greener, as you'd expect in the PNWWould love to be joining as this is a very fun destination but too many irons in the fire right now. On the other hand, I have committed to a Washington trip for the game there, next year.
@Roland Brooks - you got me with that one. Your hotel is on a side of campus I don’t really know that well. Sorryis the residence inn on shattuck? before the game you can stop by Henrys on the way to the stadium. Get a Golden Bear. They're yummy.
Thanks! Any thoughts on Triple Rock Brewing and Jupiter? It will not sell out. My guess is 40-50K in a 63K capacity stadium.
Had the same experience with frat row a few years back for the Sparty game. They were church mouses on the walk back past them after the game.Flying into SFO on Friday. Taking my brother-in-law and nephew to the game. I also had to purchased tickets through Cal Athletics, as Gopher Athletics had stopped selling tickets.
Planning to use BART (I've been to the Bay Area a lot - public transport is very good) as well. Good advice to avoid Fraternity Row. Went to the Minnesota-Cal game in 2006 and walked to/from the stadium along Channing Way. Suffice to say, the Frat boys were pretty cl-ASS-less.
Yeah, many things to do in Jet City. Pike Place Market should be near the top of the list. You can easily spend a half day there. Also recommend hitting an Ivar's for some great fast fresh seafood.Washington is definitely worth a trip.
