BCS Standings Released

Baylor and Kansas State are nice stories, but Oklahoma and OSU would have to throw up all over themselves to lose to either. It would take a major, major upset for there to be any drama whatsoever surrounding who will play in the BCS title game.

Eh, OSU is beatable. Not saying they're not a good team (they definitely are), but they only beat A&M by 1 and Texas by 8. They probably won't lose to any of Mizzou, KSU, Tech, or Baylor, but I could see it happening. Hell, OSU is less than a TD favorite against Mizzou as of right now. The lines for KSU and Baylor will likely be even closer unless OSU absolutely curb-stomps Mizzou this weekend.

I'd be quite surprised if the national title game ends up being anything other than Oklahoma vs. LSU. LSU in particular is probably the best college football team we've seen in several seasons.

I won't disagree that Oklahoma State is beatable. I also don't think they've played completely up to their capabilities yet. Only four teams have had to settle for more red zone field goals than OSU (interestingly, one of the four is Oklahoma). They're also 93rd in penalty yards per game. If they get out of their own way, they should have no trouble getting past any of those teams.

I've told all my LSU co-workers since the end of last season that Alabama would beat them this year. I'm wavering a little, but I'll stick with it. It would help if Tyrann Mathieu's suspension carried over to the Bama game.

I'm not sure, I think Alabama can beat LSU.

Even with the potential suspensions of Tyrann Mathieu, Spencer Ware and Tharold Simon? I only say potential because Les Miles did not confirm the suspensions.

Sure they can. Alabama is a very good team. But it's important to remember that even great teams can lose. The 2003 USC team, unquestionably one of the best teams ever, lost to Cal in 3OT.

(Stat that will blow your mind - the 2003 USC team had 52 players go on to sign with NFL teams. Yes. 52. You read that right. It is not a misprint.)

They will be weakened, sure, but LSU has mad depth. The players behind these guys who will start getting a little more run (Ron Brooks, Michael Ford, Ronnie Vinson, etc.) are all 4-star studs.

And what have you heard about the suspensions and how long they will last? They will run Auburn out of the stadium this weekend regardless. If those guys are still out for 'Bama in two weeks, things could get dicey.
