Back for another season starting tonight, December 31 on Fox 9 and Fox 9+. 10:35 PM on Fox 9, 7:30 PM on Fox 9+.

Tonight's show men's program only. Not surprising as the Gopher women's team went down to Madison on Sunday. In past years, the show alternated each week between the two programs. Would expect next week's show to focus on the women's team.

I enjoy this show, but they seem to always go over the same things and same players each time. Reporters....please ask the question about looking for more depth and concerned with players playing too many minutes and wearing down towards the end of the year. This is my main concern as we get to the last couple of months. Really rooting this team and for a big W vs Iowa and find a way to make the NCAA tourney this year. Rah!

Yes, we would like to see some more of Maggie Czinano in her senior year. She has quickness and is definitely a team player, and knows the offense . She struggles a bit on interior defense, following her player through screens, but is pretty good on perimeter guarding. And Nia Holloway is an excellent rebounder. There are times that that’s what we really need more of.

These shows will never have tough questions being asked. These shows don't happen if they start putting those questions out there. Like the women's basketball radio shows of old, these shows are not the places where anything but positive spins will be found.

Not saying that's a good thing....but it is the reality.

It's harder to flex the depth of your bench when two of your best seven or eight players get injured for most or all of the season.

This just in: NIH study on Sex Differences in Common Sports injuries has this to say about female athletes: suboptimal landing mechanics. What this means according to ChatGPT: In sports medicine, "suboptimal landing mechanics" refers to improper or inefficient techniques used by athletes when they land from a jump or fall. This can include factors like poor knee alignment, incorrect body posture, or insufficient muscle engagement, which can increase the risk of injuries, particularly to the knees and ankles.

For those of you wanting to know why there are usually multiple players out for the season each year.

Czinano seems like a very good teammate and a hussle player. However, I felt like she was more of a D2 player coming out of HS. I think Gophers were her only D1 offer.

I really don’t question who plays. The coaches are with these players every day. Same with Asuma on men’s team.

Would have gone to some energy players sooner in the first quarter.
