per this tweet from Pete Thamel of the NY Times. Clearly Bo Pelini treats Madison like an in-state game.

"Barry Alvarez said that he expects 30,000 Nebraska fans in Madison this weekend. That's insane."

Go Gophers!!

I'm confused is Barry blaming Maturi or Marketing? :drink:

I'm frightened by how many Nebraska fans are going to be in TCF. I've been getting random facebook messages from people I haven't seen in 15 years looking for tickets.

Should be a fun game this weekend. Gonna be good for the Big Ten - specifically the Legends division

That is crazy. But - not surprising considering what they did at Notre Dame a few years ago. I fear for what TCF will look like on October 22nd. I think the draw of a big profit made even many diehard Gopher fans sell their tickets to Nebraska fans.

50,000. Seriously. And it's homecoming...

As amazing as that would look (since they're going to be wearing black to stand out) don't expect anywhere NEAR that many in the stadium. It just means they'll be in the city to party and watch the game at bars.

I know the Huskers already have several watch parties setup for those in Madison who cannot get tickets.

Weren't ndsu fans bragging they would have 20,000 at TCF? If you must sell your tickets please don't sell them to neb fans. The "loyal fans" next to us sold their tickets to ndsu idiots.

I was wondering about that number too. When I was walking from my parking spot I was thinking; for that number to be correct, about 2 out of every 5 fans I see should be ND fans. No where close. They designated Sally's as one of the places they planned on "taking over". I tailgated with some friends just behind Sally's, and here is a picture of them "taking over" Sally's.

I went to that game in South Bend about ten years ago and it was crazy. You would never would have guessed that Notre Dame had any home field advantage whatsoever. It was completely a sea of red.

I'm a very loyal fan, I'm just going to sell my Nebraska tickets to whoever values loyalty the most.

Mom already canceled going out to dinner at the Tornado Room due to NE fans. In all my years of calling home my mother has mentioned a visiting team to Madison exactly 0 times. This time it was NE this and NE that. I was going to tell her we have Cavalia.

My mom was telling me the line for the shuttle service last week took like 40 minutes. I can't even imagine what it would be like for the Nebraska game.

Guys this was just mindless babble from lakes(the whole takeover was his idea, probably has something to do with NDSU team makers banning him from tailgating at the Fargodome), most of the Bison fans went to the State Fair and tailgated there since NDSU setup a big tent and told everyone to go there. The official NDSU estimate was 14k.

Wow. She must really want to avoid them to cancel out of a meal at the Tornado Room. Great steak should never be put aside because of people from Nebraska.

There are plenty of Tickets available on Stub Hub for the Gopher Nebraska game. Why haven't Nebraska fans snatched them up?

That is a pretty high estimate. The game wasn't even sold out and was the lowest turnout of the first three games.

Going on Sat night. Wearing the blackshirts hat and jersey. Expecting to get a bunch of crap from my wisconsin buddies but it is going to be awesome.

Only because the U never sold the open student section seats (hats off to whoever made that smart decision!).

I'm confused... so gopherbadgerman is going to the game in Husker gear???

^agreed. 3 different degrees?

All of the Husker fans are wearing black to stand out.

I have heard that many Nebraska fans bought season tickets for the Gophers games at TCF. This ensured them that they'd be able to get in when Nebraska plays up here. Then they are selling the rest of the tickets online for all the other games. Actually not a bad idea if they were worried about being able to get a ticket to the game.

There are at least 3 guys in my section who have worn Nebraska gear every game so far. There will be a ton of Nebraska fans in TCF.

I get the logic in buying the tickets, but why do they come to watch the games instead of their own??

I've owned MN season tickets the past two seasons. I get a few confused looks because I usually wear a mix of both Minnesota and Nebraska gear to the games. As long as I'm not missing a big game/conference game, I will usually go to the Minnesota games to support the Gophers and then follow the Huskers on my phone.

I've meet a couple of Nebraska fans at TCF Stadium who do the same thing. They are die-hards who bought season tickets to make sure they secured tickets to the Neb game, yet they will still come to most of the games to support the Gophers (as long as they're not playing the Huskers).

Factoring in the proximity to NEB/Western IA/SD, the decently large alumni base here in the Twin Cities, and the lower ticket price, I wouldn't be surprised if 20,000+ Husker fans show up to the MN-Neb game.

Frankly, I just don't care/worry about it. I don't like having a stadium full of the opponents fans but I also don't hate the Huskers. Which means I'm going hope for the best, expect the worst, and enjoy myself the same regardless of how many Husker fans I see. I hate the Badgers and Iowa. Having a stadium full of our rivals sucks WAY more.
