Still down on floor. Hasn't moved for about 5 minutes.........not looking good.

Looks like knee buckled.

Just helped off the court. Looks to be in a lot of pain and very emotional.

My guess......done for the year.

SUCKS

Not good at all hard to tell on TV but thought she was screaming right away as she went down. Hope for the best but looked like it may have been ACL to me.

The Robbie Hummel ACL happened right in front of me. This was just like it. Not good.

Have the Gophers played few enough games where she can get a medical redshirt?

Nothing else it could be besides a torn ACL, IMO. Heartbreaking to watch.

Hate to analyze something like this, but we need to play 31 total games this season for her to be able to come back next year. Gophers should get to that mark.

I'm guessing she probably could. It's early December. If it is season ending, I'm hoping she can.

I can't make this any more clear: She is eligible to come back next season. She's played in 10 games and we need to play 31 for her to qualify. The 31st game will be our B1G Tournament 1st round game. Assuming she makes a nice recovery (really hope she makes a quick and full recovery), she'll be back.

I've watched Rachel's injury frame by frame. As she is just about to go for the layup, her right leg looks hyper-extended as she plants it. She takes another step and her right knee looks like it is bent inward. She shifts her weight to the left leg to go up and immediately grabs her right knee and falls to the floor. No contact from any player at all. Wow, what a horrible sight.

Sorry, I didn't see your post. We were posting at the same time.

No problem GopherLady! It's just good to clarify. It's great news considering the unfortunate circumstances. Just made the cutoff for being eligible.

Still going to hold out hope, but, no, it did not look good.

Ugh. Best of luck in your recovery, Rachel!

Can she catch a football?

Just wondering if we should be thinking about other options.

Awful news. This was looking like a Sweet 16 team or better. The MN sports curse knows no bounds. Hope she can recover and come back next year.

It was really painful to watch her go down. I doubt that she'll be back this year. She's so close to breaking Lindsey Whalen's scoring record, that I hope she will be back next year. She deserves to hold the program's scoring record. Her loss may make it difficult for the team to improve on last year's record, but if she comes back, next year could be a very special year.

This was really tough to read about, I just hope she can make a full recovery. I don't know what her WNBA draft prospects were/are, but I would assume she'd be ready to move on to getting paid to play basketball if that opportunity is available to her. Given that the WNBA draft (and season) starts shortly after the end of the college year, my guess is that she might go undrafted due to not being able to play in the upcoming season. Whether her next game is at the U or in a professional league somewhere, I hope she's still every bit the player she's been for the past 3 years.

Watching it on FoxPlus it made me sick to my stomach. I guess she was back on the bench, but the camera never panned in on her.

If she does decide to move on to the WNBA I think she would still be a 1st round pick whether she could play at all during the upcoming season or not. I don't think the Lynx would pass on Banham if she was available when they picked in the 1st round.

Saw it while watching on TV last night. Sickening, awful. Very reminiscent of Robbie Hummel's awful luck while at Purdue, including a blown out knee at Williams Arena after having come so far back from an earlier knee issue. Heartbreaking to see. The best to Rachel as she embarks on this new course. Hope she comes back stronger than ever!

Major bummer. Hope she can get a medical redshirt, if that's what she wants.

This one pisses me off. Rachel seems like a really good kid. A true student athlete.

They weren't even close to being a Sweet 16 type team, but I do think making the tournament was very realistic. All hopes of that are gone now. Hopefully she comes back next year (if that's what she wants to do) and leads what will be an improved team to the NCAA Tournament and maybe even wins a game or two there!

If she comes back, Stallings has two top rated recruits signed so far for next year. A JC transfer at point, and a gal from the Canadian National who is extremely athletic and quick.

Didn't know that. Could be interesting.
