Badly missed Cal fumble from Saturday's game (video)

I don't recall the play which makes me think that Cal probably retained possession or there wasn't a clear recovery by us. Gotta think we would have challenged as well.

williams recovers it clearly and obviously. they called it (incorrectly imo) forward progress, which is not reviewable. play takes place at 4:36 in the 3rd and we would've had the ball at their 28 or so

If the play had been blown dead not much we can do about that. Sucks but it happens.

yep. Greder is incorrect. he didn't call him down but that forward progress was stopped. nothing you can do about that

I agree, it was called wrong but the refs even announced down by contact, or forward progress was ruled stopped. They don't review after that is called. Fluke play ruling it down.

he says "ruling on the field is the runners forward progress was stopped". You can hear it on the broadcast

Damn you refs!!!!! If you had one more eye you’d be a cyclops!!!!!!!

I said that to a ref when I was around 9. It was at a division 2 men’s game. He threatened to kick me out until all the fans around me got on his case.

All the fans cheered when I was not kicked out and the team carried me on their shoulders after the victory.

That referee? That was Albert Einstein.

This one hurt. I also wonder how things would have gone down if that one pass wasn't tipped, Koi houses it for a pick 6, and also probably avoids his major fumble blunder on the 5 yard line. Because that punt would have never happened.

Cal was a little better throughout most of the game, and the Gophers deserved a loss, but there were chances had a couple things gone just a little differently.

You never know how changing one play would have affected everything after but would be really interesting to see how the game would have turned out without the tipped pass because I agree Koi was picking it for sure and probably housing it. He read it perfectly.

Games like this are so close. It did seem odd that replay didn't get involved and it was brushed away pretty quickly. Progress should never be called on a bang/bang play like this. Would they have even gotten this angle?

Game should have been won.

In HS, a ref apologized to me for calling a foul on me blocking a shot. I smiled at him and said, “Don’t worry about it. The next call you get right will be your first!” And we both laughed.
