11 AM on ESPNU.

GopherGridiron ‏@GopherGridiron
Time and TV info for our 10/20 game to the East of us has been announced 11am CT on ESPNU #Gophers

When did ESPNU become part of the BTN football coverage?

ESPNU? you are joking right? the network/conference put the gophers/badgers game on espnU? most people with expanded basic don't get espnU. it is usually only available on the additional sports package tier of channles. WTF espn and B1G....WTF

Can this still change? Or is it set in stone? Kind of outrageous that a station that usually headlines ACC versus FCS schools hosts two B1G teams.

Seems like ESPN is saying, the three TBD games are more attractive than Minnesota @ Wisconsin, so give us another week to determine what we are going to do. Ouch.

This is about right. At least we didn't get stuck on the CBS Sports Network.

WTF happened to the BTN overflow channels?

For those of you that are Gopher BB fans, check the tv schedule I posted on the BB forum thread 'Midnight Madness'.

Mr Teague....a new entry for your TO DO LIST.

It's part DISH's basic 120 package.

i was referring to cable. unfortunately (for me at least) you usually get part-of-package-access to a lot of more of these ESPNU types of channels on satellite packages compared to cable packages. we have comcast. i like comcast's reliability and quality, but it is at times like this that i despise the creation of all of these extra-tier NFL Networks, MLB Networks, NBA Channel, NHL Channel, ESPNU's. just put the games on locally available channels in each team's market. i know i am barking up the wrong tree, but still.

Maybe I'm just not aware, but I don't recall ever seeing a B1G vs. B1G matchup ever appear on ESPNU. It would seem especially odd given the rivalry aspect and the fact that we aren't a complete flop of a team this year as opposed to recent seasons, so I don't get why it would happen now. I can understand them thinking the other three games are "better", but would BTN not pick up this game? Two of those three TBDs go in the 11am slot on ESPN/ESPN2, and then the 3rd on the 2:30 slot. Or, even if one of them goes on BTN, the overflow channels would be better IMO than ESPNU. Seems messed up.

imo, it doesn't have anything to do with minnesota or wisconsin or records. i think this is similar to what you are seeing with the nfl network (thursday night football exclusivity) and mlb network (exclusively showing 2 ALDS/NLDS games in each series) of the world. i.e. taking a good matchup game that people want to watch (i.e. minnesota vs. wisconsin) and purposely putting it on your exclusive tier channel. thus attempting to drive more new subscribers of the channel and hoping that they add it to their packages.

Bingo.

It's all about current and/or future potential dollars. They don't give a damn about us low life consumers.

I'll listen to announcers I know and appreciate on KFAN radio or the same announcers on line at http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/minnesota.portal#

I also make sure that I schedule no surgeries during Gopher games.

The closest that I'm aware of is when they broadcast Minnesota vs Michigan game live on ESPN Classic in 2005 (last time we won the Jug!). But that was before BTN. Since BTN, I'm not aware of a conference game on any offshoot network.

I don't get ESPNU, but I'll be at my Father-in-law's, and I am nearly certain he does, so I should be in luck.

I'm hoping that something changes and it ends up on BTN. A lot of cable subscribers will be unable to watch the game at home if it doesn't change.

ESPN (and the ESPN family of networks) get first crack at B1G games, if I remember correctly. So BTN didn't even have a chance to pick this one up.

I'm going to take this as a good omen - let me explain.

I don't get ESPNU on my cable t-v system, so I won't be able to watch the game. That obviously means that the Gophers are destined to win - and I won't get to see it.........but, if you guaranteed me that the Gophers will beat BB and the Stinkin' Badgers, I will gladly spend the day raking leaves and listening to the radio.

What kind of work do you need done? :)

As a retired proctologist, I now specialize in a surgery on special patients that safely separates from those whose optic nerve grows all the way to their rectum, called ocular rectitis. 92.4% of my patients have successfully had removed from them their $hitty outlooks on life.

Our home game against Penn State two years ago was on ESPNU. While rare, at least one Big Ten Conference game per season is usually on ESPNU (off the top of my head, I can think of Michigan at Indiana a few years ago, and the Illinois-Northwestern game at Wrigley Field).

The 2005 Michigan game was on ABC, called by Brad Nessler. You're thinking of 2007.

It's stupid. That's why everyone should just head down to Madison for the game. :)

The 2004 meltdown was on ESPN Classic too.

11 a.m. horrible!

I thought we were getting away from those breakfast game times...

There was a semi-meltdown in 04 too
