Gophers currently tied with Wisconsin for the #10 seed, the final spot for a single-bye. It's a Weakling Wednesday swing game tonight in Iowa City, and for the Hawkeyes, too.

All times are Central. All Weakling Wednesday, 2nd-round, and quarterfinal games will be televised by BTN.

Wednesday, Feb. 28 (Weakling Wednesday)
#12 Rutgers (2-8) vs. #13 Iowa (2-8), 4:30
#11 GOPHERS (3-7) vs. #14 Illinois (1-8), 7

Thursday, March 1 (2nd Round)
#8 Northwestern (4-6) vs. #9 Maryland (4-6), 11
#5 Michigan (7-4) vs. Rutgers/Iowa winner, 1:30
#7 Penn State (5-5) vs. #10 Wisconsin (3-7), 5:30
#6 Indiana (5-5) vs. GOPHERS/Illinois winner, 8

Friday, March 2 (Quarterfinals)
#1 Purdue (10-0) vs. Northwestern/Maryland winner, 11

Can you imagine the crowd for an afternoon 12 v 13 seed Big Ten game in NYC on a late February Wednesday game at Madison Square Garden ticket price levels?

The ushers will be shooing people in the doors, telling them, "Go ahead, we're not going to charge you for this."
 

Very sobering to think the Gophers season might be done in February.

On the bright side, more time to go find another player or two for next season. Bench can't be status quo, and it's foolish to bank on major minutes from 3 freshmen (no matter how talented) and a guy who in 3 years couldn't get off the bench at Louisville. Murph, Coffey, McBrayer, Curry, and Jelly (presumably) need help next season. ... not 2 years from now, next season. A second true PG (Geno Crandall?) and a sniper are at the top of my list.
 


I think we're pretty much stuck in Weakling Wednesday now. Probably need at least 3-4 more B1G wins to get out. I don't see it with this team.
