Another video of the chaos outside B1G HQ:
Stupid take.Helicopter parents of adults.
Play in the spring, then. Also your whole point assumes that the fall season actually comes to fruition in a meaningful way. There are future NFL careers on the line. Some of the players speaking out are locks to be early picks, but others like Durr and especially St-Juste need to get more on film. Play next year, you say? Sure, but at that point, we’re talking about entering the draft at age 23-24.
That's interesting. I guess that would surprise me. I don't watch ESPN anymore, the network has been trash for several years now, but being advocates for the SEC playing and against the B1G for not playing would be counter to their core political slant the last few years, which would include strong advocation for NOT playing. I would guess this situation puts ESPN in a very conflicted position between supporting their "business partner" in the SEC and supporting the hard political lean they've immersed themselves in for several years now.It is amazing to read how the media (ie ESPN) is covering this. Like you can clearly see it slanted towards that playing is the right decision (not making a stance either way in my opinion of this) to support the SECs decision. Like everything they have covered to the standpoint of the decision has been how upset people are in against it while ignoring anyone who is in support of the B10. I've loved ESPN for years, but man their bias to become more and more apparent as their writing quality has dropped off
ESPN is 100% in bed with the SEC and ACC. They own and operate networks for both those leagues. It is amazing to read how the media (ie ESPN) is covering this. If BSJ thinks that playing this fall will have a significant difference from playing this coming January, then I encourage him to seek a transfer. He has earned that right, in my opinion. You should go tell that to St-Juste on Twitter. He wants to play, and probably isn’t racist. Of course, you can’t relate to his situation while hiding in your mom’s basement waiting for a vaccine we may, or may not get.
Yup. These guys will get their shot. In my opinion, if there is spring football there will be a supplemental draft. I also think the NFL will have an expanded combine as well...(look at me, having confidence the NFL does something right.)Play in the spring, then. Also your whole point assumes that the fall season actually comes to fruition in a meaningful way.
The bottom line remains the same. if one of their kids gets infected and has negative consequences, the same parents who are yelling "let them play" will turn around and file a lawsuit against the school for not protecting their child.
LOL no.Doesn't work that way, it's called "Assumption of Risk." By electing to play fb, the FB player assumes the risk of getting infected. So if the player gets infected while playing fb it is a risk the player assumed by electing play. That's why if someone gets injured playing fb the player cannot sue the school, the fb program or the person that injured the player, because the injured player assumed the risk of getting injured when he elected to play fb.
Yes and yes. Folks that make their living off college football probably quite conflicted. That's interesting. I guess that would surprise me. I don't watch ESPN anymore, the network has been trash for several years now, but being advocates for the SEC playing and against the B1G for not playing would be counter to their core political slant the last few years, which would include strong advocation for NOT playing. The dollar must be driving this, without question, if ESPN is lauding the SEC for playing football and criticizing the B1G for not playing.
There's not much reason to think they would. Its too bad the P5 conferences did not work together and reach a consensus before the season. This schism--not the virus itself--is the biggest disaster for college football.
You also could never prove you contacted COVID by playing football. You could have contacted it anywhere at any time.Doesn't work that way, it's called "Assumption of Risk." By electing to play fb, the FB player assumes the risk of getting infected. So if the player gets infected while playing fb it is a risk the player assumed by electing play. Nonsense. There seems to be some prevailing thought that if they play ball and test positive, there's no question they got it from playing football somehow. You also could never prove you contacted COVID by playing football. You could have contacted it anywhere at any time.
The waivers are just a further CYA move.LOL no.
Evidenced by the fact that some schools were asking players to sign formal waivers. If it was like you say, those wouldn’t have been needed.
And then those waivers were shot down by some senators and the NCAA.
Just call the football game a riot, maybe they can burn something down at halftime, and then they're immune to catching COVID. Problem solved, season saved.Nonsense. There seems to be some prevailing thought that if they play ball and test positive, there's no question they got it from playing football somehow.
Would love that.Due to all the impatient etc. I'm waiting for the XFL league (or whatever Johnson calls it), to turn it into a minor league where players can drop out of college or not even go to college at all to play in this league before jetting off to the NFL.
The only way that will happen is if we're still not playing college football a year from now.Due to all the impatient etc. I'm waiting for the XFL league (or whatever Johnson calls it), to turn it into a minor league where players can drop out of college or not even go to college at all to play in this league before jetting off to the NFL.
Well if they want to be paid by the school that does not even make money it seems like a great chance to skip school for those that do not care about academics but celebrate like crazy when they do a hat reveal and get that scholarship. The only way that will happen is if we're still not playing college football a year from now.
