B1G match 16: Gophers visit Iowa 11-16-25

Sitting here at the match. This is a nice little hockey arena. Not great for volleyball. Gophers seemed to be sleepwalking in the 1st set. Much more locked in during the second. Still can play a lot better & might need to.
 

Beat a ranked Penn State and now struggling against Iowa, didn't someone on here call this match "easy".
 



I guess more lessons need to be learned. Here's a thought, just play better then you wouldn't be in these types of situations.
 

In case you missed some of the commentary, Iowa is much improved this year. They have been very competitive in many matches. I will take the win and be very happy with it. Now onto the East cost and hopefully two wins before they come home to face Purdue and Wisconsin Win out and lets get home court for the first round of the tourney.
 

The Gophers have had much more "seasoned" teams struggle playing at Iowa for some reason. Happy with the win. Texas almost went 5 at home today with lowly SC. Bottom/middle conference teams are getting better now that it's the end of the season.

There are no easy matches in this conference anymore. All the teams that were lapdogs in the past are improving every year so you have to be at your best every match regardless of the opponent.

Ohio State took Penn State to 5 sets today as well.
 

Iowa is not a pushover anymore. They've got some ladies that can really play. Vanzandt is a beast. The Gophers played poorly in the first set but after that they picked it up. We all need to remember these are freshmen. Sometimes it's going to be a battle. Take the win and move forward.

I'd argue that teams are coming back to the pack as much as teams are "rising." Nebraska seems to be the only legitimate top 10 team in the B1G this year. Certainly in relation to past years, but we're damned close to it being true literally.
