In need of a win, 1-6 Minnesota travels to face off with 2-5 Penn State this Wednesday. The good news is that the Gophers are 12-3 versus the Lady Lions in their last 15 meetings. This streak includes an 8-1 mark in their last nine. The better news is that the Gophers emerged victorious in a double overtime marathon earlier this season.

Penn State is reeling from back-to-back road losses to Iowa 67-108 and Nebraska 51-80. However, the Lady Lions two B1G wins have come in Happy Valley where they took down Purdue 70-60 and Rutgers 90-72 (a team that bedeviled Minnesota). It’s not really a big game; but, post-game, either Carolyn Kieger or Lindsay Whalen will likely be asked to remind fans of why the future shines bright.

Thank goodness for Rose. 9 points and 3 rebounds after the first quarter and a 4 point lead. Nice buzzer beater by Mara.
 










Well, based on the last couple games, post play is no longer a problem. Never would have thought that guard play would be our problem at this point in the season. B & B not very good so far. I'm still convinced they'll figure it out, but I hope soon.
 










In the midst of all this sloppiness Czinano had a really solid game. Along with the points and rebounds she did a nice job keeping her player in front of her on d and got ball in bounds where it needed to be against the press in crunch time.

Yup. She was really good tonight. Or maybe the better description was solid and disciplined.

She added stability I liked seeing that…
 

Marisa ended up putting up 25 but Czinano did a really good job on her. Gopher defense was solid tonight, forced 22 turnovers.
 


Rose has really turned it on as of late. 3 double doubles in a row and new career highs in scoring in back to back games. She is the reason we won tonight and she did it with consistency.
 

Rose put the team on her back tonight, guard play tonight not so stellar but Braun with some clutch FT’s. Even tho ugly game very important win, first Big Ten road win. One of these days we are gonna see this team sync between back court and front court, hopefully sooner than later.

She seems to have finally eliminated the silly reach in and over the back follows on defense.
 

Monster game from Rose. Her game has really gone to a different level this year. She's stronger, able to put the ball on the floor, she's actually able to go right now (not just left) and she can hit some 6 to 10 foot jump shots. Starting to remind me of Iowa's Czinano. No, she's still not there yet, but she could get there. Still needs to learn to stay out of foul trouble and do a better job of passing the ball when she is double=teamed, but she is well on her way. Not a great game for Braun, but she showed hit a couple shot from the field in the fourth. And she and Katie B are very good free throw shooters. If the Gophers can get leads late in games, it's going to be tough to play the foul game with the Gophers.
 

wasn't PRETTY at all.. but this TEAM never QUITS...

Mara 15 points .. believe 10 in the 4th quarter.. 6-6 FTs

Amaya not one of her better nights at all.. PSU has kind of been her nightmare so far

Rose ROSE ROSE.. (time to find out what she's had for breakfast the last 2 games, 27.5 ppg, 14 rpg) 31 points a career high.. 14-18 FG.. and 2-2 FT.. and 14 rebounds.. It seems like Rose has FINALLY learned how to SLOW down and she has been GREAT when she does this.. where was this Rose early on..

Katie some clutch FTS but again some silly choices for passes again.. she needs to learn how to SLOW down like Rose

Maggie I LOVE her HUSTLE.. 8 points, 4 rebounds

Mal is such a GLUE player does everything for this team.. an off night from the FT line.. but had a clutch basket late in the game.. 12/7

40 rebounds, 12 offensive rebounds .. 18-23 FT's

biggest thing is CLEAN UP the TO'S we just cut these in half and we win going away.

minus that 3rd quarter Marisa was pretty quite.. she had 13 of her 25 in the 3rd..
