And free throwsThe missed layups… ugh!
And free throwsThe missed layups… ugh!
I wonder if these two are under the weather. I know they have been hit with the bug.Absolutely nothing from Hart and Heyer. What the hell are they even doing out there if the team is just gonna jack up threes and miss easy jumpers? Very winnable game and they let it slip away.
Yes, if they would have made 2 more 3’s they would have won. They need Mara back.We certainly got the free throws, shooting 19 to Michigan's 8. Three-pointers: Michigan 11-24; Gophers 6-24.
According to sidearm stats, Heyer's last shot with 2:35 left in 1st quarterDid Heyer even take a shot in the second half?
Agree 100%. This team needs 1 more player.. . . Missing Mara and Woodson hurt that game too.
Would seem to me she is maybe still recovering from the crud and is fighting the offense and keep up at times on D from the normal. Still tough on the rebounds tonight when in.According to sidearm stats, Heyer's last shot with 2:35 left in 1st quarter
It's annoying; especially for conference gamesWhat the heck is it with the scoreboard stats? Same as last game.
Olson 23 points in 39 minutesNot looking forward to facing those three freshman the next three years. Missing Mara and Woodson hurt that game too.
same here, but I also thought she should have attacked because shooting the 3 isn't her shot.. drive and kick or attack.I really, really wanted Rose's wide-open corner three to connect
I would be shocked if we see her for the LA games. I don’t know anything but not sure why my gut is telling me Iowa game.We really need Mara Braun back for the California games. Could use her back Sunday, to knock the rust off get her back in the rotation and game flow. Not sure if she is cleared? Team could use another scorer to take some pressure off. Team looked a little gassed in the second half tonight.
you're right; but an in-rhythm crunch time three....same here, but I also thought she should have attacked because shooting the 3 isn't her shot.. drive and kick or attack.
Agree that Battle really did try to will this team last night.A few things
-Amaya Battle was the best player on the court. Period. Yes, I know the free throws but she was doing everything she could to try and will the team.
-The two fouls on Mallory were a joke! Both of those belong to Olivia Olson. Back-to-back possessions, the "50/50" block/charge call went 100% against Mal.
-Late in 2nd, the Gophers were up 34-33, and Amaya forced a turnover, Hobbs fell on her, and a foul was called. But the Gophers were in the Bonus. Why did they not get free throws off that foul?
-This was a game where Taylor and Mara were missed. Mara scoring and Taylor would have thrived in the physicality and defensive side against this Michigan team.
-Wether Mara comes back or not, this is a Michigan team I would welcome a second crack at during the Big Ten Tournament.
She is good on D and can bring up the ball. But she just can’t shoot. And her layups generally end up with her on the floor, and often a courple FT’s, but seldom a basket. She is needed on defense, but then for all practical purposes you are playing 4 on 5 offensively.same here, but I also thought she should have attacked because shooting the 3 isn't her shot.. drive and kick or attack.
I agree, she is better suited to play shooting guard. Taking a team leading 18 shots with only one assist is not stellar point guard play. There were too many instances when she was into her dribbling routine and other players were waving their arms to show they were open. Michigan moved the ball much better. That said, Battle has improved a lot as an all-around player, just not as a point guard.Battle is a great point guard, defensive player, and shooter. She is the most consistent shooter on the team. It is hard to do all those aspects for almost 40 minutes. I sometimes think it would be good to play Battle as a shooting guard with her wonderful mid-range pull-up jump shot and her defensive skills. But, we don't have another consistent point guard who can distribute the ball.
