B1G Game 7: Gophers visit Northwestern (1-19-25

I’m perplexed as to why Holloway doesn’t get more minutes. I feel if she gets some minutes in the first half when our bigs clearly didn’t have it today we wouldn’t have had to come from down 16 in 2nd half. She still wears that giant brace so perhaps she’s not 100%
have to think it's match up related.. and her quickness and athleticism was needed today and FLIP the game for us.

congrats to Nia as she was a +16 in just 9 minutes today..

When it comes to seeding, it’ll look good that Utah, which is comparable to Minnesota NET-wise, lost at northwestern but Minnesota won

considering the excellent high school and AAU programs she’s played for I’m surprised she’s not more skilled

Wow! No quit with this team. Of course, I would like to see them avoid having to come back like this to win.
They looked sluggish defensively from the start. I am sure Dawn can fix that. (Maybe not being ill will fix it.)
I thought the coaching staff did a great job of trying to find combinations on the floor that could slow down the outstanding post play of the Wildcats. Finally found it; luckily, in time to make the comeback.
I agree that Nia was a huge factor. She is finding how to play--not trying to do what she can't do, which is apparently what Dawn was referring to about her athleticism.

Rose's defense was also a big catalyst at the end. Nia sure looked skilled today, she blew by the NW bigs and finished at the rim. She also took space away from the NW bigs and bothered them at the end with her defense.

Which one's closer to the real team, the one getting ass kicked by NW and Mich for most of games or the one making the rallies?

My guess is Mich was a fluke but we'll see

Random thoughts: Great comeback. Early in the 4th quarter, I thought they were 'dead in the water'. Glad the team thought otherwise. Really good game from GG. Looks to me like she's got a high basketball IQ; that's a likely reason she leads the team in minutes played. Like the fact that she mixes her 3-point attempts with her drives to the basket and her post-ups. Terrific game for NW's Sullivan. She and her cohorts made the Gopher interior defense ineffective. Contributions from Hart, Stewart and Heyer were all minimal. Maybe some of that had to do with any or all of them not feeling 100%, but the NW quickness was certainly a factor...and they hit shots, at least through 3 quarters. Happy to see the major contributions from Nia down the stretch. It's nice when you can have a player who normally hasn't played much, contribute when the game is on the line .As Ohio State can now attest to, winning in the BIG, even against the teams that are near the bottom of the standings, isn't always a given.

Your conditional support is impressive.

It wouldn't frustrate me if I didn't care. But this is Division 1, Big10. If any team at this level lays eggs they're going to take criticism. I'm glad they ended up with a palatable omelette.
