B1G Game 5: Gophers host Southern Cal 1-11-26

Nice 5 minute run in the 3rd. Good defense and GG (except for that awful turnover with :35) takes over for Minn. Hated giving up that "Might as well" 3 at the end, but you're also worried about her driving to the hoop and drawing a foul. At least now we're in the game.
 




Couple gimme fouls to USC down the stretch for phantom penalties.

The Friday men's game against USC Hollywood was a flop circus plus multiple wow calls.
 
















The Gophers didn't end regulation by giving up a 4-point play when the USC took their sweet time! It's a miracle! :D
 




My God, GG, Tori and Mara missing FT’s? So glad they got that monkey off their back, I think it was on their minds more than they care to admit. Good win but parts of the game were ugly. Hoping the coaches can fix Battle real quick
 

Gophers took much better care of the ball in the 2nd half as well. That was a key. I think we only had 3 in the 2nd half and turned them over 8 or 9 times. That's another big stat! Our best free throw shooters uncharacteristically struggled at the end, depriving us of some breathing room at the end.

I'm not worried about Battle. I'm guessing that in the next game or game after, she'll end up having another one of those "Thank God for Battle" games that she seems to come up with just when casual fans are losing faith in her.
 

Whew.....was glad there was no whistle on the made 3 at the end. Does this count as top 25 W as USC will definitely be out of the top 25 with last few games.

Grace played 39 minutes, Mara 36, and Tori 33. That probably had something to do with it.

When was the last one? When is the next one?
 


We had shooting splits of 37/28/59 while USC was 44/45/80...and we won.

Rebounding and the turnover battle really saved our bacon. So nice to see the streak end!

It goes by the opponent being ranked in the poll at the time of the game.
Whether, what matters for selection purposes, it's a Q1 or Q2 win, depends on how they do the rest of the season (they were NET 26 and probably won't go down much, if at all from this).
 


Finally, a signature win. Maybe, some of the grit and success that the men have had recently is rubbing off on them. We need a winning culture in Gopherville.
