B1G Game 5: Gophers host Rutgers (1-8-25)

Yeah hope McKinney gets well soon. Be interesting to see how coach P uses the lineup. Excited for the game!

It looks like McMiller is NOT dressed, so maybe she's not going to play tonight.

I would like to see some of Johnson tonight. I KNOW she struggles in defense and passing, but I feel like she would be the next option and it hopefully helps her get better.

And before I even finished this….JOhnson is in and knocks down a shot.

Johnson’s shot is so smooth!
Also, can someone post the postgame radio link again?

Johnson definitely making the most of her minutes helping provide some shooting and scoring. Like to see Holloway get some time to guard that Adams and think we are going to need her help as well in the upcoming games.

Nice to get the win tonight. Although McKinney didn't play, some other players got extra playing time and opportunities. The play was a little ragged but bench players got good experience. Johnson had a great game and hopefully will be able to make more contributions in the rest of the games.

I was thinking of the men's team tonight, too, but more along the lines of: Rutgers is MN men's team-level awful.

Good game. Johnson has a nice shot. I fail to understand why they didn't sit the starters with a 20 point lead with several minutes left in the 4th quarter. Why take chances on injuries, especially when Rutgers was getting chippy. Maybe it has something to do with NET? UConn left Paige in with a huge lead and now she is out for several games.

This was the best Johnson has played this year. She still got lost a couple of times on defense, but she was vocal and demanded the ball a couple of times on offense. She looked like she belonged out there.

Gophers had too many ball handlers for that particular group of Scarlet Knights

Sophie with her 2nd career double double tonight

and hey Grace didn't play 40 minutes tonight.. played 38 minutes

GG with just a great overall game I know her 3's weren't falling per normal.. but she finished with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 3 steals

I agree. I like a player who steps up. I think Johnson is a gamer. I am not thankful for the injuries but I am thankful that it creates an opportunity for Johnson. Also I am thankful for depth this year. The Gophers have a nice size roster with balance among posts and guards. It has come in very handy.

It was a fun game to be at. I love how Rose plays defense, anticipating screens and reading passes. While she can’t shoot the three, she was making very good passes inside and moving well without the ball. She had some very good hustle plays. Mallory had some wonderful hustle plays as well , but got called for a couple ticky-tack fouls and had to sit, which brought in Johnson. Johnson looked lost several times. Yes, she has a nice shot, but tends to freak out a little bit and forget about her teammates until it’s too late. She needs to pass inside quicker, before the post has to move out of the lane..

I can't figure out why Adams left UNC to come to Rutgers... had she stayed at UNC she would be able to play in the ncaa tournament ( well more of a bigger chance). Did she honestly want to be the "STAR" that bad she came to Rutgers... because take away her 28 points last night and Rutgers scores 22 points..

Rutgers won't be in Indy in March..

Would be a great Grad Transfer for the U next year if both Hart and Stewart are done after this year. Now a days you never know the eligibility of players.

She is from New Jersey. Maybe she wanted to be closer to home?
