The undefeated and top five ranked Buckeyes roll into Williams Arena minus a few pieces (Madsion Greene and presumably Jacy Sheldon) but fresh off a victory over the Michigan Wolverines. Gopher fans remember Sheldon’s 32 point and 7 assist performance in last season’s 83-75 win over the Gophers in Minneapolis. Taylor Mikesell who dropped 17 against the Gophers needs to play a key role this time around.

Ohio State (4-0) has won 10 straight from Minnesota (1-2). The last Gopher win in late February 2016 was a memorable 90-88 OT thriller. On Senior day, Rachel Banham scored 35 points before fouling out. Carlie Wagner picked up the slack with 26 points. It was a crazy ending. A Jesse Edwards put back gave Minnesota the lead with under a second remaining. Then, Ohio State advanced the ball and scored on an Alexa Hart layup. In OT, Wagner scored after coming around a Jesse Edwards death screen with tenths of a second left. This time, OSU’s Kelsey Mitchel couldn’t get off a shot and the Gopher looked NCAA bound with a top five victory in hand. Those NCAA hopes took serious hit in the next game: a 110-77 loss at Maryland (history repeats itself a little too often).

Only one 2022 prospect entering the BigTen this year was rated higher than Mara Braun per ESPN. That player is Ohio State's Cotie McMahon.

This week McMahon was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the fourth consecutive time, topping Braun's earning that honor twice this season.

This game will include a matchup of the top two candidates for Big Ten Freshman of the year, unless some other players emerge. For example, Mallory Heyer won Freshman of the Week once and Amaya Battle has been coming on.

Putting 4 subs in after the OSU timeout took a 13-12 deficit to 20-12 real quick. Cayton had 3 steals in the first quarter. Might have to go starters & Cayton as much as they can.

Handling the press well, good ball movement, good defense. Came out well prepared it appeared. A few mishaps. Cayton having a strong game. Dishing steals out right back to Ohio State. For the most part looks like a really good team tonight.

They seem to be holding their own. Keep it up gophers!

9-0 run for OSU to open the 4th and already in the bonus

That 4th was brutal. Only 16 turnovers is remarkable IMO compared to what other teams are doing vs OSU though.

KBs wildness came back to haunt them in the 4th. Some dumb shots on drives and I honestly don't know if she is flopping on defense or drawing offensive fouls that are going against her.

Played great for 3 quarters, some silly turnovers, missed a couple layups, battles 4th foul were all difference makers in the 4th quarter. Gophers offense continues to look alot better lately, even though they didnt shoot it that well they got alot of good looks.

Great game. Played them quite even for 3 quarters. Strong defense until the 4th; maybe got tired and pressed too much. OSU had four more 3 pointers and 6 more free throws; ouch. Turnovers were even. Gophers had more steals (16-9) but less points on turnovers (12-24). If they can play like they did tonight, they will beat some good teams in the BIG. Go Gophers!

Spirited effort, they played like they weren’t intimidated and went toe to toe with them for most of the game. Missed some fast break opportunities and some lay ups, hopefully learn how to finish. Really liked Battle’s game tonight too bad fouls caught up to her, like her running the point over Katie B. Referees it seemed weren’t gonna allow the upset tonight. However this game should inspire some confidence moving forward. An enjoyable game to watch.

Agree that there is better overall ball movement and decision making with Battle @ the point. The team competed well tonight and I hope they continue to stress team defense / reducing TO’s.

the whole swing of the game was the opening 2 minutes of the 4th quarter.. when refs handed OSU that 5 point swing in a blink of a eye..

we played maybe our best game of the year.. I wish we could get Mara a few more touches..

onto Wisconsin and Rutgers.. both VERY winnable..
