Lack of depth again hurts come down towards the end of the season. Just one of those games that once Oregon got going, we couldn't stop them and 17 TO's

Seems like a lot of these close losses are just due to lack of Mara Braun rather than a general lack of depth.
 



Gophers play like they have a designated scorer. Indecision. They catch the ball and look first to pass it. The indecision costs them an open shot, a drive to the basket, or a good pass. The end result is that they dribble around and get trapped. The game plan has taken GG, McKinney, Heyer, and Stewart out of the offense.
 

knew we were in trouble.. when I saw who the refs were Tim Daley and Gina Cross.. might be two of the worst refs in the conference.. we usually get hosed by them, when they are apart of the same crew.. and that rang true today...

21-8 fts in favor of Oregon.. nice to see them bail out Deja Kelly at least 3 times.. but let her do whatever she wants with her off arm..
 

And, give Oregon some credit. Kelly Graves and his staff clearly watched the Ohio State game film and saw how a press effects the Gophers. They had the players to effectively press us and bring on the turn overs. Hope in our next three games we fix this and learn from our errors.
 



I completely understand the frustration of losing and wanting to win but we need to be realistic…. We are in year 2 of a rebuild and our best offensive and defensive player has barely played. Also our best athlete tore her acl who would help to guard some of the other teams athletes like number 1 tonight or 32 for Ohio state. I am actually so encouraged with the direction of this program as we are competing with all the teams and finding ways to stay in games.

We did not buy our team and unless the University provides a major investment to the program I am thrilled we are representing ourselves and being competitive. My guess is you could grab three of 4 girls from Oregon and they make more money individually than our entire team.. if you look at the teams in the Big ten that we played and you were a general manager you are probably picking the majority of their kids before you pick any gophers for your team. Honestly our Minnesota still finds a way and overcomes many obstacles.

Offensively tonight we scored 70 points against a very athletic and physical team. Way too many turnovers but a big share of them were in the full court. In the half court we got really good looks tonight against them. uCLA only scored 65 points.

If you do not think we are coached well I am not sure what game you are watching. We probably are getting more out of our talent than any team in the Big ten. We have zero kids that will be all conference and in every game never had the best kid on the court. Even Wisconsin has Sarah Williams. However our kids play together and play hard and overcome so many physical factors throughout a game. My belief is we are close but fans and businesses and the Ubiversity needs to make the investment. We have the right culture and coaching staff. Basketball currently in the Big Ten on the Women’s side is light years ahead of what it is currently on the Men’s side. We have 13 very good basketball teams which makes the conference incredibly challenging. We are close…. One Orr two transfers and the players staying committed for next year and we will be a very challenging team to beat

A good offense either has moment or space. Our offense at times creates space and sometimes we change our offense and create movement. However the turnovers are definitely on Amaya and she was careless several times in the open court as if she lost focus. I think Amaya is a terrific player and we would be lost without her however not sure you can blame the offense. Physical athletic teams give her problems at times with turnovers. She has grown as a player so much and needs to stay focused and assertive playing these teams. She has surely shown she has the talent and ability to limit turnovers but needs to mentally lock in
 

Just back from the game . Our offense was stagnant with poor ball movement. The Ducks played tough D which contributed to us committing too many TO’s. Many of the players looked fatigued and like the recent road trip had slowed them down. Giving OR more than twice the # of FT’s didn’t help. Need to regroup and get a few W’s.

It was a poorly officiated game. This crew bailed out Deja Kelly at least 4 times on drives where she created contact with her off arm and should have been charged with a foul. That Tim Daley should get a clown car chafeur back to the air port, talk about bias and not calling a game equal, this dude is the epitome of that. Oregon got away with a lot of cheap shoves and bumps and no calls. Ohio States pressure was legitimate, Oregon hacked a lot and got away with it.

I legit CRINGE anytime I see Daley inside the Barn, because I know that game is going to not go in the favor of the Gophers..

Kelly flopped a lot today... used her off arm.. and was awarded with 9 free throws.. ONE MORE then the Gopher had as a team..
 

If you had told me before the game that the Gophers were going to shoot 9 for 15 from 3, I would have been confident of a Gopher victory. Wasted by far the best 3-point shooting game of the conference season. Not as crazy as the 3-point barrage last season at Michigan, but still a very good game from 3.
 

Didn’t get to watch the game but stats can say enough. One step forward and five steps back.
 

First of all, Oregon loss is not going to knock out Gophers from NCAA. Oregon has beaten Michigan State and Baylor when ranked. It doesn't help but likely keeps them on the final four byes or final four in.

Now losing to Purdue likely will knock them out so winning Wednesday is huge!

Now the Oregon game.. and actually the last two games. I'm confused people coming down on the Gophers. Both times and frankly almost every game, it's not the stars or headliners who defeat them.

Ohio State- Ava Watson... had 6 points TOTAL her last 7 games.. suddenly can't miss and hits the only 4 3-pointers for her team. Why would watson be a focal point of scouting?

Oregon.. mevius... averages 6 ppg and season high was 14... had 15 at half cause suddenly the worst shooting 3-point team in the conference is the golden state warriors. Whitfield... averages 5, has her conference season-high in big ten play with 13 points. Gophers are great defensively..we just keep having every no name 5 ppg player suddenly can't miss.

didn't help that Deja Kelly had the refs wrapped around her finger and their massive post was allowed a ton of cheap shots on Sophie

Definitely heading in the right direction. Next year, I'd love to see her have a more post-like shooting percentage (not asking for a Gracie Merkle 67 percent but a Rose Micheaux 56 percent would be nice. Hart is at 49 percent).

I think her development will continue if Coach P brings in another good post player like Stewart for good rotational play.
