I wonder with four regular season games left what will happen with Braun. Kind of feels like they will just shut her down.
And all teams match up differently. Would love to run the next 4 heading into the tournament. They have one major injury. We have two.
I would look for medical year and get two more years possiblyI wonder with four regular season games left what will happen with Braun. Kind of feels like they will just shut her down.
There's no point in letting her play, unless she can still get another season.I wonder with four regular season games left what will happen with Braun. Kind of feels like they will just shut her down.
True, but I think she would get another year regardless with all the time missed. I heard they’re applying regardless.I would look for medical year and get two more years possibly
She would not get another year if she comes back and plays this year. It is 20 percent of total games played and has to be in the beginning of the year.True, but I think she would get another year regardless with all the time missed. I heard they’re applying regardless.
They can use the games missed from last year. They are applying for another year. She would not get another year if she comes back and plays this year. It is 20 percent of total games played and has to be in the beginning of the year.
Agree. Not a fan of OSU over the years. They have long been a Big Ten bell cow that underperforms in the NCAA tourney. Pretty sure the OSU-Gophers series is the most one-sided series in BIG history among legacy BIG teams. With the loss tonight, the Gophers are 16-67 against OSU.. . .
This would have been a great win.
Unless you rewrote the NCAA manual you are dead wrong. I am afraid that is not how it worksThey can use the games missed from last year. They are applying for another year.
Okay don’t believe me. Wait and see.Unless you rewrote the NCAA manual you are dead wrong. I am afraid that is not how it works
We will see. You cannot just change the rules. The likelihood is much greater that the NCAA grants everyone from now on a fifth year. In that case she should try and come back as she would still have two years left but that would be a gamble.Okay don’t believe me. Wait and see.
The bubble is weak this year, and I think the Gophers would get in at 9-9. But Penn State went 9-9 last year, finishing with a 27 NET ranking, and did not make the tournament. Also, in the 4-year history of the NET for WBB, only 1 team has been selected as an at-large team with 0 Quad 1 wins. Of course, Quad 1s are harder to come by this year. Still, a victory at MSU to end the year should end any doubt about Gopher tourney chances. If we can get two more wins in conference we will be an NCAA tournament team. With our net ranking and being 9-9 in this conference will surely get you in the tournament. . . .
Those are valid points but I would be shocked if 9-9 would not get you in the dance. The Big Ten would be extremely upset with the committee. The bubble is weak this year, and I think the Gophers would get in at 9-9. Maybe in this new world of "anything goes" college athletics, it might work, but l have never heard of this being tried before. They better know the answer before they put her back on the court. They can use the games missed from last year. They are applying for another year.
Can you please say that really loud so that DietCokeFan can hear you.So close. A soft pass resulting in a turnover is the difference.
I really like how well these Lady Gophers are coached. Very fundamentally sound.
This would have been a great win.
Well I actually do have bad hearingCan you please say that really loud so that DietCokeFan can hear you.
nobody believes me and that’s fine. lol.Maybe in this new world of "anything goes" college athletics, it might work, but l have never heard of this being tried before. They better know the answer before they put her back on the court.
Coach P, in her second year, is instilling a system, an identity, and a belief that the kids can compete. Next year will be an improvement on this season as long as we can keep the nucleus here. There is much to be excited about. Can you please say that really loud so that DietCokeFan can hear you.
Nobody believes you because it is not based in facts. I do believe you might of heard someone say that but not from anyone who would be in in the know. The NCAA manual is pretty clear and it has never happened before. I surely hope we can win on Sunday because you only post when we lose so you can complain about the coaching and the offense and whatever else. We win nobody hears from younobody believes me and that’s fine. lol.
Right out of the NCAA manual:nobody believes me and that’s fine. lol.
That’s not true but okay.Nobody believes you because it is not based in facts. I do believe you might of heard someone say that but not from anyone who would be in in the know. No, not for a medical. For a medical red shirt, it is only the current year that applies. 30% or less of games played in the current year. They can use the games missed from last year. They are applying for another year.
My daughter played for Coach P for 5 years, due to the combination of a red shirt and a Covid year. (She spent her first year on the bench with the red shirt, but developed so much in that time!) Over that 5 years, she learned so much both on and off the court, as did all of the other girls on that team. Their trust in her defense-first system, the chemistry they built, and their belief in each other is what gave them their sweet 16 opportunity. And that all came from Coach P and the coaching staff that she surrounded them with.Coach P, in her second year, is instilling a system, an identity, and a belief that the kids can compete. Next year will be an improvement on this season as long as we can keep the nucleus here. There is much to be excited about.
That makes perfect sense for Mara. She would not qualify for a medical red shirt if she came back and played but would need to apply to the NCAA for some kind of other reason concerning mental health or medical treatment or for whatever other reason and hope the NCAA grants her request. It surely would be a gamble on how they would rule. I am just thrilled that she will be back for two more years and we can enjoy watching her ability and genuine love for the gophers.Okay, let's clear a few things up.
YES, they could have applied for a 5th year IF Mara came back this year. It may not officially been a medical year by name, but they could of done same as they did for Sophie Hart applying for extra year of eligibility based on amount of total games missed over the two seasons. Sophie played her sophomore year before coming home midseason, they still got her a fifth year but had to apply SO YES THEY COULD HAVE tried for Mara.
As mentioned earlier, it was no guarantee where right now it's a guarantee to get a medical redshirt which from what i'm hearing is what they are going to do. Mara is not planning to return this year due to not wanting to risk not getting the additional year.
In terms of NCAA...what have the Gophers done to fall out? Charlie Creme who gets AT MOST one or two team incorrect a season has them not even on the final four in, but final four byes. Wins over Illinois and Indiana are huge. Also Illinois could be a quad 1 win if they keep winning. Losing in OT to #9 in the country is not a sign of "slipping out of the tournament" Frankly right now the only KILLER to the bubble is if they lose to Purdue. You dont want to lose to Oregon or Washington but I don't feel those would be the end all be all. Track bracketology with Charlie...it's literally what he is paid to do..
I feel it's more of an athleticism issue than fundamentals. Need to get more athletic and compliment that with fundamental play. They play hard that's for sure.Well I actually do have bad hearingI’ll give them credit. Second half was way better. Yes, I can get down on them but I will also admit when I’m wrong.
I think this is very case by case and as long as you can sell it, she should get another year. I am just thrilled that she will be back for two more years and we can enjoy watching her ability and genuine love for the gophers.
