I don’t dislike Kevin like some folks.


But I don’t know what Kevin’s …. qualifications are for this.

Then again I don’t know what they would be for that job anyway.
 

He did a fine job. Was a very difficult job.

They'll hire someone to help navigate the next phases of managing the new TV contract, integrating USC & UCLA, and managing the expansion of the CFP and how the revenue of that new TV contract (starting in 2026) will be distributed amongst the 10 conferences and the rest of FBS and FCS.

He was with the Vikings and helped with the new stadium.

The Bears are going to be building a massive new stadium complex, like Sofi, out in the Chicago Suburbs over the next few years.
 

Need to really be able to navigate a boatload of issues and thus won't be a popular person when you make a decision. We don't always know the rationale behind some of these decisions, so people get mad for nothing at times. Good luck to Warren though.

Other than cancelling 2020, then I cancelling it… And then “aligning with the PAC”, before ultimately raiding it… I think had he agreed had he been able to close with ND and then adding the current adds plus Oregon, Washington, and whichever other school… he’d have still been a great commissioner. As it is, I think he did fine - considering the amount of monumental change that he faced within the sport as a commissioner with no experience.
 


Warren's skill set is negotiating hard deals. Given that the Bears will be negotiating a bunch of hard deals to build their stadium out in Arlington Heights, he fits the Bears needs perfectly.

Once the deals are signed he'll be sacked and replaced with a construction boss.

Chicago unveiled a new concept to update soldier field with a roof and the area around it. Likely just to say they put in the effort but will be interesting to see how/when/where the new stadium goes.
 

Going to be very interesting to see how the B1G approaches the search for a new Commish. Obviously a very high-profile job, but also some big challenges ahead with new TV deals, expansion etc.

Warren didn't make any of those calls himself.

You really don't know that the actual decision making, the lever pulling itself, is done by the presidents of the schools in the conference? Warren is just the figurehead and does their bidding.

The conduit of revenue for the owners is DIRECTLY through the commissioner. The commissioner works for the owners. What in his history up to this point would lead the owners to believe that Warren is remotely capable of MAKING THEM MORE MONEY?

This is about the color green, plain and simple; not black or white. Stop being a pathetic simpleton

Relax, man. I'm not saying that I'm advocating for it.

I'm telling you how it will be played, in public.
 

Anyone got any names that come to mind that may be good replacements?

I think adding Oregon, Washington, cal/Stanford would have ruined the conference more than adding usc UCLA already did
 


I would think that the new job with the bears would be a much more football job and a lot less politics job


The fact he wants to make this move tells me he wasn’t a good fit for the big ten commissioner job anyways

I think his "aligning with the PAC and ACC" was on purpose and he achieved exactly what he wanted from it. Media thinks this was a mistake, but they don't understand his reasoning behind it.

This will be the 4th NFL team he has worked for. And he was with the Vikes for 15? years.

At the franchise level the franchises do nothing but football and football pr, football finance, etc

20+ years as an NFL executive. Helped Wilfs buy the Purple. As stated in other posts, navigated the new stadium to reality. Law degree from Notre Dame.
