Also why he did not make a pick in GameDay for this game, as he essentially had a lot of insider info.

To answer your question, they don't pick on games they are announcing.... for obvious (maybe legal) reasons.

I think that announcers typically avoid making picks on the games they cover because they don't want to give the impression that they are favoring one team over the other in their coverage.
