Are you part of the problem or part of the solution?

So, this is an honest question and it deserves honest answers. I live in Houston, my wife and I are season ticket holders to some decent seats and we make two games a year. I would love it if our situation was different and it was easier to get to every game, but that's not the reality. Anyone that knows us in The Woodlands, a northern suburb of Houston knows we bleed maroon and gold and show tremendous love for our University. If you live in the Twins, support the Gophers to the best of your ability, speak optimistically instead of being a Debbie Downer and be proud of your state school, that's all I can ask of any of you. And, I do! Go Gophers

So, part of the problem then. Got it.

Well, he moved away. Not all in. We gotta be all in.

Well, I painted my house Maroon and Gold. (actually, I hired someone to do it....) Otherwise, I am an absentee fan. I have never been to a game at TCF. (used to go to a game every year at the Dome, but always with freebie tickets through work.) I typically have to work every Saturday during FB season, so really hard for me to attend games. I have not donated any money to the U. I live and die with each FB game on TV.

If the President of the University of Minnesota has athletics as his #1 priority, his priorities are grossly out of order and he needs to resign immediately.

Soylent Green is people...it's people! And I am pretty sure he or she would be fired.

Define the problem before you ask people to answer a question like this.

I am part of the problem. I use sarcasm without a care in the world and I am certain Dpodoll is the devil who has come to earth to cause Gopher fans misery and grief.

Many would say these actions and attitudes are part of the solution.... carry on....

Don't be so hard on yourself. You still seem like part of the solution. It's not like you moved to TX on top of some soapbox. That is where the problem starts.

When it comes to Gopher Football, tell us whether you consider yourself to be part of the problem or part of the solution, and why!

I'm a fan and not on staff or in the administration at the U, so neither.

My argument for being part of the solution: Lifelong college football and Gopher fan. Faithful season ticket holder. Paying children's tuition to attend and reside in the area. Love the campus. Buy and wear the stuff. Attend open practices. Amping it up with a road trip to Lincoln this year.

Arguent for being part of the problem: My wife would not allow me to put a Gopher Football helmet mailbox in front of the house and I did not argue aggressively.

I expect your neighbors don't think that you are part of the problem but that you are the problem! My god, a Maroon and Gold House! They maybe great colors for a uniform but they're not so good for a house. I know you gave up drinking which is great. I assume therefor it was right after you had your house painted Maroon and Gold that your reached rock bottom. It could have been worse though. if you had painted it Wisconsin's colors.

The house is mainly Gold with maroon accents. Had it done a couple years ago - quit drinking in '86. To be honest, I originally wanted more of an orange shade, but the painters talked me out of it. So the gold was a compromise. Like most things in my life, it was not well- thought out in advance. But, I like the way it turned out. And my neighbors have no cause to complain - my house is one of the nicer ones on the block.

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. I had a vision of a giant Gopher statue in your the front lawn and a large M on your roof. And no, I wasn't drinking when I had it. Glad to hear that everything worked out fine and I am sure your neighbors are lucky to have you.

Probably neither like 99% of the other posters on here

How is supporting the Gophers from Texas part of the problem, please enlighten me? Only if you can do so without being an asshole!

I yam what I yam an' dat's all what I yam.

You could argue that by supporting the team I'm part of the problem because I've enabled them to put out an at best mediocre product with no vision or plan on how to improve it.

I'd say by dropping my season tickets 2 years ago when the insane increases were happening, I helped get them rescinded for this year. You're Welcome.

I go to games and support the team, but not blindly. I tell others that attending games is a lot of fun and they should give it a try. However, I alone can't change public perception of the program or make people go to games. So I'm neither part of the problem or part of the solution.

I'm part of the solution. I am an elite CFB mind and share my elite opinions here on GopherHole for FREE when others make you pay for it. That gives insight to more folks and undoubtedly increases interest in the program - putting more butts in the seats, raising revenue, and inspiring the players to play better. This increases the AD budget and the team's performance which in turn improves recruiting and gets even better players here to play. It becomes cyclical at that point. And again, I do this all for free so I am obviously part of the solution.

No chance. You refer to players by their initials combined with their number. That annoying habit alone makes you part of the problem, sir.

I used to travel for work a lot and was gone a lot during weekends, and I did not get out of the that schedule until early 1998, so then I immediately signed up for season tickets, as I was inspired that we finally hired a coach that was in demand like Mason was. Georgia did hire him, if anyone remembers that. That first Brewster year wore me out, but the long awaited stadium kept me going.

I dumped my tickets after 2014 because the announced plan to double my cost of attendance in my seating area really pissed me off, especially with very modest success on the field. I ended up staying anyway for last year because the ticket office called me in 53 weeks ago and told me my tickets were "waiting" if I paid up.

In light of the pending huge increases I pulled the plug again this year, and it is over. I guess I am part of the problem, although like many of the other lost season ticket holder I am sure I'll back in the season ticket base in the next few years.

A $950 to $1800 increase for a middle of the pack team over the course of 3 years just did not work for me and Norwood's (and Beth's) plan apparently has not worked for a lot of people I like what Coyle did, but it was too little too late, and only winning the West this year will erase the problem.
