Texas beat Vandy and Vandy’s best win is 8-4 Missouri
Missouri is 8-4 but their best win might be 6-6 Louisiana (Lafayette)
Texas needed to beat Florida to make it a lock
Vanderbilt needed to beat one of the two ranked teams they played to make it a lock
I know they’re SEC, but their schedule wasn’t good enough to be a lock at 10-2
This year. Wisconsin would’ve made it at 9-3 with their schedule. Nebraska probably would’ve needed 11-1 with theirs.
With the schedule imbalance there are different numbers of wins needed to get to different places.
People keep saying Texas is getting punished for playing Ohio state. They aren’t, SOS is why they’re the only 3 loss team being discussed. They’re SOS is so tough people are overlooking a loss to Florida.
Likewise, bama is in at 10-2 with a loss to Florida state while 1 loss BYU was behind them due to lack of SOS.
Nice breakdown. It's going to be interesting to see how it all plays out. Committee needs to put out a strong message/ranking tomorrow and they need to explain the scenarios that will play out.
Examples
BYU is only in if they win.
TT is still in if they lose
Indiana and tOSU are in
Georgia is in
Alabama is out with a loss.
The bottom of the SEC is absolute garbage and 6 teams admitted it by firing their coaches. Honestly I don't know how you put Texas A&M or Ole Miss in the field. Ole Miss is a complete mess with the coaching situation. Texas A&M played 9P4 teams and only beat the bottom 7 teams in the SEC and lost to Texas H2H.
This will never happen, but they should confirm that the SEC is making the right move by going to nine conference games. Alabama is only SEC contender that has played 10 P4 teams.
Put Indiana, tOSU, Texas Tech, Oregon, Georgia, Alabama, G5 Champ, Virginia if they win, BYU, Miami, Notre Dame, Texas in.
Next in line are Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Vandy.
Every one of these teams will have played at least 10 P4 teams, won their league, played an early season marque game.
