Anyone know why Devron got suspended??

Problem with pot is that the government can't regulate something that you could easily grow in bulk in your backyard. Hence, it will always be illegal. They need to make money out of it somehow. But I digress. What was the original topic?

Please get over yourself, burton34. The reference is that many college kids experiment and I don't condone the use of drugs...just being honest about my experiences. Of course, if I had a full ride to college for sports, I never would've run the risk personally and that is one of many reasons why Bostick's decision was an unwise one.

Devron was not "experimenting." Type "Wisconsin Circuit Court Access" into google, click the link, agree to the terms, and then type in "Devron Bostick." Looks like he was arrested and convicted of THC possession back in August of 2008 back at his home in Racine, Wisconsin. Was he ever suspended for that?

Can anyone confirm whether Tubby sat Devron "for a violation of team rules" at any time last year?

From my recollection the only one who was suspended last year was Payton for academics.

From Yahoo's stat line Bostick didn't play in two games. Other than bad play, I don't remember any issues with him, he may have had attitude at one point, but that's it.

I recently attended the 40 year anniversary of an adventure travel company for which I once worked. We were all in our twenties then and company policy pretty much condoned marijuana. Its use was pretty much universal among employees. Now years later this group seemed pretty successful. Four doctors including one surgeon, several lawyers, financial advisors, a college professor and many business owners. It is a group of achievers and most of them are parents within long term marriages. I saw nor heard no evidence of hard drug use and even though there was an open bar no one got drunk. However many if not most still enjoyed a toke or two. Clearly this group does not match up with the examples generally given by those who oppose marijuana use. Marijuana use is always cited as a cause when unsuccessful people use it. The question that came to my mind was "would these people have been as successful if they never used marijuana."

It's pretty much already legal in California.

Roy, I would hang with that crowd any day. I have a large circle of friends here in Lincoln and back in Minneapolis that have 2 things in common. They were and some still are smokers and they have very successful lives. From presidents of large corporations, to city employees, lawyers, restaurant owners, mayors, salesmen, social workers and so on. None seem to drink too much and the majority are in their first and long term marriages.

Looking at the case, it looks like there is more to it. While he was convicted of possession, he was also charged with felony assault of a peace officer. This was "charge dismissed but read in". Any lawyers want to explain what charge dismissed but read in means?

The more these things leak out, the more I think we are lucky to play in a big market where the players are not under a microscope. It seems if things happen off campus the media do not pick up on it (witness Whaley as well).

No more tsk tsking Wisconsin or Iowa.
