Anybody considering going to the NIT Championship if the Gophers make it?

I'm leaning toward doing it. My cousin just moved to NYC and I've always wanted to go to MSG for a game. Tickets are pretty reasonable and I have enough frequent flyer miles to get out there for free. Anybody gone before?

I am going to msg for the high school national championship. Wanna see Piper vs Vaughn. My son and I are going to the game on Sunday though.

I've always wanted to go game there, probably won't get too but if you do id love to hear a recap of what it's like watching a game there. It's on my bucket lists of places to watch a game.

I'd consider going to a Knicks game if I was ever in the area. I don't think I'd get the full experience if it was me and 400 others at MSG.

I went two years ago and will go again this year if we make it. It's a pretty decent experience. Not the crowd intensity of an NCAA game of course, but depending on the teams their can be quite a few alumni in NYC that attend the games and get into it (since they don't get to see their teams often), so the crowd was decent. The UofM Alumni Association had a pre-game gathering at a nearby bar last time and I imagine would do so again. In my opinion MSG actually isn't a very impressive arena to watch a game, although they've put a lot of money into it in recent years so it's much better than it was 5+ years ago (when it was basically small, dark and dumpy). Definitely a place you need to say you've been to at least once though.

I will go to the semifinals if they make it. Although, I live in Philly and it's a 70 min train ride, not a 2 hr flight from MPLS.

A good venue for the players. NYC a great place to visit. A cab ride should be on everyone's bucket list. Walking down 42 nd street you will be approached to buy everything from dust too a Rolax.

Guessing they sold you a counterfeit Rolex. Hope you got a good discount!

I have a son and daughter-in-law who live in Manhattan and I live in the Washington DC area, so there is a very good likelihood that I will make it.

Just being in Midtown is always a good time. Seeing the Gophers at The Garden would be very cool. Let's hope they make it that far. Won't make it - but it's tempting.

I went to the Stanford game a couple years ago. MSG isn't all that to me...and the game was lightly attended. The pregame at the Irish Pub across the street was fun, lots of Gopher fans, Goldy and the cheerleaders.

Went out after the game and had big fat steak which made the loss more tolerable.

If you have never been to NYC...it is my favorite place in the world...any fun you want can be had from free to holy crap, how much, but if you want it, it can be had in NYC.

Assuming we make the NIT final game, does anyone know how to get tickets in a Gopher's fan section?

Last time I was able to get tickets in the Gopher section through the alumni association. You could also ask the Gopher ticket office, but I don't know whether they have access to tickets.

Went to a TWolves/Knicks game at MSG in Nov. Place has been completely remodeled and now is like any NBA arena, but it was still worth it. Attended a Big East Tournament several years ago and it truly felt like the Basketball Capitol.

I went 2 yrs ago also and had a blast. We actually attended the 2 Gopher NIT games and a Knicks game while we were there. Very fun experience - if you can make it work - go. One of the best basketball trips I have ever been on. NIT games were not well attended, but still a lot of fun. Creative Charters did a great job of making arrangements at a reasonable price.
