Any word on delaying kickoff due to weather?

I hope the U of M is smart about it and makes the announcement by around 4 PM as a lot of people will be trying to make a final decision as to where they might want to head to or wait it out until they hear more.

I don't claim to be up on every NCAA rule, but as far as I know, they will not stop a game just for rain. I believe the rule on lightning is - if there is lightning within 8 miles of the field/stadium, then the action must stop for 30 minutes. but if there is additional lightning during that time, the 30 minutes is extended for each occurrence.

however, I also think that it's ultimately up to the referees and the site manager, so if there was torrential rain (like Noah's Ark kind of stuff), I think the refs have the discretion to halt play if they feel the playing conditions are not safe.

anyone with more knowledge chime in.

They would be smart to push the start time by an hour. Weather report is suggesting that we're going to have thunderstorms at least through kickoff.

Smart call. Allow people deal with and get through the bad weather to get to the game and then have a decent amount of time to get into the stadium for the game.

I think the deal breakers are Lighting within 3 to 4 miles of the stadium and possibly hail? IIRC both are predicted to be possible tonight.

Confirmed Tornado 🌪️ east of Isanti

60 mile straight line winds at the stadium
