on Tubby's official decision as to how long the suspensions for Bostick and White will be? I'd imagine it has to be before tonight's game as this game would count as one of the possible games in the suspension??

Shooter had a sentence in his column yesterday, I think, that said Royce felt he would be out only two games.

I was really hoping Tubby wouldn't see that because, I would think, as a coach, I'd be pretty hot if one of my players made a comment about the length of his suspension. It would double, triple, quadruple...

I would bet it'll be over when Tubby tells them it's over. They better be acting like choir boys in the mean time.

My guess is that Tubby doesn't read that column, hasn't seen it, and it won't factor into his decision.

My WILD guess is that the White suspension will last longer than 2 games.

The suspensions are INDEFINITE. That means Tubby probably doesn't know yet when he'll "activate" them, so to speak. Tubby suggested that if they take care of some things (I'm guessing that means community service, good behavior, etc.) that they'll get back on the court. Until then, they're suspended. Tubby's direct quote - from the newspaper - was "it could be two games, it could be 20 games."

At this point, I'm guessing Tubby doesn't know himself yet. I'm sure he wants to see progress from the two guys.

Maybe I should have put that differently. The quote seemed to be from Royce, not Charley Walters opinion. Which is why I figured if Tubby got wind of it he would be pissed.

Yes Tubby would be pissed.

I am nearly 100% sure players are not allowed to speak to the media without permission. If White is speaking to Walters and doesn't have permission he is in even more trouble.

PS Tubby may not read the papers but I guarantee you they have someone who does and I also guarantee what's in the papers (and on the websites) gets communicated to him.

This is what I'm guessing as well. Having said that, I would guess we'll be seeing Royce back on the court at some point before the Big Ten season begins. If not, I can't fault Tubby.

I've been hearing Bostick will be 2 games. Royce will likely be in the 5-10 range depending on his attitude and how he handles this situation. This isn't particularly reliable information though and I could very well be wrong. The exhibition games do count in the suspensions.

Get him back before the Anaheim Classic. Let's not mess around here.

Tubby just wants White to spend the next couple weeks acting like ALL players are expected to act ALL the time. So what's the over/under on White not being a moron for a whole month?

Don't we need a number for the o/u? How many games he will be suspended for maybe?

I'd bet his IQ is higher than you think. He just has to get better at controlling his emotions.

Does anyone have a quote of Royce saying he thinks it will only be two games? I didn't see that anywhere.

Never underestimate the intelligence and ingenuity of a criminal. People who steal are criminals - whether or not they spend time in jail, or are allowed to play college basketball after getting caught shoplifting, resisting arrest, and commiting assault and battery on a security guard.

Having a high IQ doesn't preclude you from acting like an idiot. As appears to be the case here.

Sorry to be negative BUT. I have a feeling that Royce will never play a full season for the Gophers. Hope I'm wrong.

I should have been more careful. Here's what Walters had in his column-

This is not a direct quote-

Gophers basketball freshman Royce White is under the impression that his suspension from the team this week will be for two games.

Obviously, one would presume, that it was taken from Royce somewhere along the way.

I was a compulsive shoplifter at his age.

It was a symptom of other issues in my life and often had little or no "reason" behind it (I once stole every spice from a grocery store, one by one). If there is an addictive quality to it, the offender might benefit from a 12 step program. I hope that White is getting help even if this is an isolated incident.

I imagine Bosticks will be pretty short, 2-3 games. he was just stupid, Royce is a completely different mess and while Tubby may not read it, there are plenty of people over there who do read everything(internet sites included) and that will get back to him and I'm sure he will ask Royce about it at the time when they discuss the suspension.

Bostick ??

Bostick was just stupid? I still have not heard what he did to get suspended. What did he do?

Yeah, ive heard nothing on Bostick. Someone please explain what he did.

Just because he committed a moronic crime does not make him a criminal. I drank alcohol last weekend, but that does not make me an alcoholic.

What did Bostick do?
