Given that we were playing Kentucky, I figure 8-on-5 on the level we normally experience in Madison would have kicked in if we'd had a lead. Even so, it's hard not to wonder how close we would have come with Harris.

We still had a bit of the 8 on 5 action in that game. I remember Courtney James being mauled in the open court - elbowed in the head by a defender flying through the air from behind - forcing a turnover.

Kentucky played that final 4 without the SEC player of the year as they had lost him to injury. WORST days for me would be finding out Clem Haskins regime was fraught with fraud and corruption and the Vikings losing at home to the Falcons.

Ron Mercer played 34 minutes and went 7 for 21.

Yeah, what the heck.

My bad, but when he got hurt Pitino called him his best player and he was their best perimeter defender. Look at his numbers pre injury , he was dwarfing Mercer's production. Mercer played terrible in that final 4 game. Apologize for getting off topic. Another terrible day for Minnesota sports would be the day Kirby Puckett suffered his eye injury , that started the downward spiral that resulted in a early death for the man who actually got this state two world championships.
