This could get interesting. I have always wanted to go to a game in a snowstorm.

Go Gophers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where are you getting your weather from? WCCO News at 6 today said maybe 1 to 2 inches on Saturday. I wouldn't call that a snow storm

Fingers crossed. I won't get my hopes up until Thursday or so. I've always wanted to attend a blizzard game. A fun atmosphere with snow could help me forget about my face freezing off.

The weather terrorists on KSTP are telling me so.

What do you suppose the coldest game Barrett has played in being from Texas?

Probably last weekend. This weekend will be about 20 degrees colder than that.

But 40 degrees didn't seem to give him much trouble.

If you get a hot chocolate at the game, the cups let just enough heat escape to keep your hands warm, plus the cup is pretty cool and reusable.

I promised my wife a couple of inches this weekend.

good lawd...I'm starting to sound like Dr. Don.

Questions...

The Vikings finally agreed or decided to heat the field, correct? So, I'm assuming the field will be heated all week?
And there should be no snow on it right now?

I know Ohio St throws deep well but that is certainly the better part of our passing game too. If the conditions made it more of just a running game (snowing, blowing during the game) would we have the advantage or disadvantage?

I'm not convinced of either advantage or disadvantage for the projected nasty outside-football field conditions for either team this weekend.

It gets cold and nasty in Columbus too. If it occurs it will generally be as cold rain.

I AM convinced however that The Dome of past favored teams just like this year's tOSU.

Thank God that's over for us.

Bring on the elements and let's roll the dice at TCF...

Go Gophers! Beat the Buckeyes!

I wouldn't call it a big storm or a blizzard, but 1-2" does look very possible during the game. The good news is this will bring warmer temperatures than were originally expected. Early morning temperatures will still only be in the single digits above zero, but temperatures rising into the mid to upper 20s during the day would make things much more bearable.

Unleash the polar bears on tOSU.

funnny how on their board they are all like oh, we will put up 50 and minny might score a touchdown... no mention of how friggin cold its going to be.
I like it, definitely think it gives us the edge since we have to live in it and be used to it. 20 degrees is exponentially colder than 40 for someone who is not used to the tundra. im prediciting a game like wisky last year, very low scoring affair.

I'm just hoping for a cloudy day. It bugs me to watch the visiting team warming themselves in the sun while our guys are sitting on heated benches in the shade.

I see a forecast for a slugfest. Minnesota needs ball control, control of the clock. TOSU not so much. But in November you must be able to run the ball, when you want to , when you need to, and when they put 8 or more in the box. Why its a game of will. I personally really like the left side with Campion, Epping and Olson. Experience, size, and just a small dose of swagger, mixed with nasty. The right side has come along well. Pirsig is gaining invaluable experience, and the rotation with Lauer has proved effective. Both big, agile, and posses the ability to collapse the edge. And then there is missing link, Joe Bjorklund. A powerful piston in the inside zone, trap, iso, or stretch. Since he was inserted the running game bloomed. It those five against TSOU front 7. The best players at each position. That is the test. If we run the ball for more than 150 we are in it. If we hit 200 we are going to win.

News Flash: Columbus, Ohio is not in the Sun Belt.

Bad weather will slow both teams down which I guess would help us some considering they are more explosive but like you say it is not like this is a team full of guys that have never seen snow before. On top of that both teams are made up of guys from all over the US so the simple fact that our guys have spent a year or two up here isn't going to make them any more equipped to go out and play football in crappy conditions.

Low temps or bad field conditions may certainly level the playing field a little and plays more to our strengths then theirs but I don't think either teams players will have an edge based on where their team is located.

I'm watching the Weather Channel and noticed that the storm was called Winter Storm Astro. When did they start giving these snow events names as if they are comparable to a hurricane or a storm of that severity? Winter storms are more of an annoyance than they are dangerous. Nobody needs to head for safety or anything. Quite peculiar.

Will we see Mitch Leidner the Moose become the Tundra Tarkington? He along with Maxx and Fruechte have played in this type of weather quite a bit I would imagine.

I think people are overstating the impact of the weather IMO. We have plenty of players from the south. Just because they walk to class in this weather dressed in multiple layers doesn't mean they'll handle the cold in a football game a lot better than OSU. And heck, it'll even affect the players from Minnesota as well. Our offense was terrible in the cold last year.

Columbus is showing highs in the upper 30's for most of the week. Game time temp will likely be 20's. I don't know that we will be THAT much better equipped for the weather. It might slow the game down a little but both teams will be prepared for the weather.

People are looking for a reason. A reason to believe. Do you believe, brother?!!!
