Andy Katz says Mbakwe is coming back, making Gophers B1G top-3 potential

There's an enormous difference between "best player/#1 priority in the state" and Cody Zeller. Zeller is one of the best players in the country and a no-doubt future top 10 (or even top 5) pick. We've had two post players in the entire history of MN HS basketball (McHale and Humphries) as good as Zeller, and you're telling me Illikainen is going to be the 3rd? He's going to be a 5-star and a McDonald's All-American? Sure, whatever you say.
Yes Cody will probably be a top 5 pick in the 2013 class. I compared the players because they have similar skill set with the way they run the court and finish around the basket. I never said he would be a future 5 star or McDonald'ss All-American, if thats the way you want to interpret it thats your prerogative.

If that's what you meant, why didn't you just say, "His style of play reminds me of Cody Zeller."? No reasonable interpretation of the run-on sentence "Illikainen is a stud, think of Cody Zeller." could arrive at any conclusion other than the writer intended to compare the quality of the two as players. That's not a problem with my interpretation. That's a problem with your writing.

If you intended to compare the quality of Illikainen and Zeller as players, stick with your convictions. Don't backpedal and claim your words were misinterpreted. If you didn't intend to compare the quality of Illikainen and Zeller, then say so, and say what you mean.

Fair enough, my main point was just that they have similar skill set, not so much All American, 5 star, etc.

Katz is just another Badger yappin... went from "they'll be in the hunt for a top-three Big Ten finish" one day to "Minnesota played reasonbly (sic) well" and "there is no reason why the Gophers can't be a contender for a top-four finish in the Big Ten" the next.. Wisconsin's notes ignore Gasser who returns after 34+ mpg last year. Maybe he declared and I missed it. Or maybe Katz is on vacation and had to write something up quick.. but some of those write-ups are brutal.

Wow, the Big Ten is seriously stacked next year. Our conference has the #1 team according to this poll, 2 in the top 5, 4 in the top 10, 6 in the top 25. A little bit disappointing to hear that Katz has us "in contention for a top 4 finish in conference," but going by this poll, that would put us in the top 10, in practice that still puts us probably in the top 20 at the minimum.

I noticed the same thing. I was wondering why in the world he mentioned Bruesewitz over Gasser. Not trying to hate on Andy Katz because I like him, that just happened to catch my attention. Bruesewitz probably won't even start next year.
