Andrew Luck will NOT enter draft

His only risk of staying at school is injury. I'm sure he has the ins policy signed already. The reward, however, is a chance to prolong the college experience as BMOC, chase a natl championship, and get his degree.

The risk to entering the draft is greater, IMO. He will be a top 5 pick this year or next, doesn't matter. Both drafts will be signed under the slot system, next years slot will be more $ as I'm sure it will go up each year. If he leaves now he will spend all next football season going stir crazy because Stanford will be playing football while the NFL will be in a lockout.

QB's such as Matt Lienart, Jake Locker (sp), and others have proven you don't need to get injured to see you draft stock drop significantly.

I think this kid has a good head on his shoulders. Also, college is a heck of a lot more fun than real life. Next year he will be absolutely adored by a lot of people, rather than be a rookie quarterback battling for his life for an awful team. He is making memories and enjoying his life. Commend the decision.

He also makes the right decision if the NFL has a lockout. Cook the Vikings DB said today that there is a 95% there will be a lockout.

Leinart didn't drop because of anything other than that was how that draft class fell. That could happen to any qb, any year regardless of performance. Rodgers, anyone?

The CBA expires on March 1. The draft is in April. Therefore, this year's draft will be, in all likelihood, slotted.

The only thing Luck misses on is the starting of the clock to his 2nd contract. Think NBA, and all the way too early entries.

That will be true if the CBA is done by March 1 (or by draft day). If the CBA happens after draft day, I don't know how a hard-slotted system could be implemented retroactively. I mean, it could be done through pronouncement, but if there is a draft and a work stoppage, I don't see how there will be a formally hard-slotted system.

The contract will probably be retroactive to March 1. That's how most union contracts are negotiated. Also, no contracts can be signed until there is a CBA.

Wish MBIII made the same choice.

Maroney I was never upset about leaving early because he was a first rounder and he was from poor East St. Louis.
Barber certainly wasn't in a family that needed the money. He probably could have improved his draft stock by a round and a half had he come back for his senior year.

Yep, no owner wants to be the last owner to have a $50M draft bust.

And now your weekend is ruined! Yes.

I didn't sleep the best thinking about it, but I am trying to work through it...;)

To the OP - I am suprised that Luck did not enter the draft, but who am I to knock a kid for staying in school. I would leave when your stock is highest, his coach left him a couple days ago, and who knows who is coming in?

Can he still enter the draft? What is the deadline?
