Already some Gophers 2025-26 non-con schedule news

I think this event had Washington, TCU, Santa Clara, and Colorado State last year. (So amusingly, there's potential for Medved to coach in it two years in a row.) Decent group of two high majors and two solid mid majors - not quite as strong as the ESPN Events was, mostly because Florida is much better than anyone else in either field, but a comparable group otherwise.

Interesting. Who arranged this? Coaches or AD office?

I am sure UST will have a MTE in the new arena in the next couple years… 🤷🏾‍♂️

In hindsight (actually I thought it at the time) that this event was a huge signal that Medved to Minnesota was essentially a done deal.

So you did get her number and just decided not to call!!

🤔 when we agreed to be in it?

Short drive from Phoenix! I’ll be there!

Go Gophers!!
Longer drive from Pasadena but I might get there. I was in the neighborhood last year and thought about it but just a little too much drive time. Looks like a great event with both men’s and women’s games and a marquee non conference game as well. A hoops junkies delight. Missing family Thanksgiving would not go over well, though. If Gophers play, more mercy is available.

Yeah, the timing of the announcement and that Medved's Colorado State played in it last year sort of signaled he already had his fingerprint in mapping out the schedule.

An update on the Acrisure Series.

It sounds like there will be four 4-team mini brackets in Palm Springs. The Gophers are among 16 teams that have committed to the event. It's TBD who the other 3 teams will be in the Gophers' mini-bracket, but we can assume it won't include other Big Ten teams.

Committed so far (this might be the final list):
Cal Baptist
Colorado
Iowa
Loyola-Chicago
Minnesota
Nevada
Northern Iowa
Ole Miss
San Diego
San Francisco
San Jose State
Santa Clara
Stanford
Tulsa
Utah
Washington

In addition, Gophers will get a non-bracketed home game prior to Palm Springs as part of the tourney.

Solid field of teams. Doesn't have the heavy hitters but lots of quality programs.

Yep, some decent mid-majors, too. Loyola-Chicago would be good to play.

Seems like pretty safe bet Gophers will be joined by one of the Big XII schools, Colorado or Utah. Hopefully Ole Miss, that for sure would enhance non-conference schedule possibilities.

Exactly what we need preseason.
Yep, preseason schedule doesn't have to be a murderer's row and plenty of room for cupcakes but should at least have some decent teams in it. Non-conf schedules the past couple years have been a joke. Hopefully we see a definite improvement on that front.

This tournament or showcase or whatever it is looks like a good one with solid teams but none of the elite teams.

I was in the neighborhood for it last year but didn’t go. It was almost a two hour drive. Now, I wish I would have. It looks like a basketball junkies paradise. Last year they had concurrent men’s and women’s tournaments as well. Not sure if they have that this year. Looks like this Acrisure kind of took over the Wooden Classic in Orange County which didn’t happen last year.
