Top 5 Cereals:

1. Cheerios
2. Kix
3. Cinnamon Toast Crunch
4. Frosted Flakes
5. Golden Grahams
(Honorable Mention: Honeycomb)

Good list and topic. When my son was 2 yesrs old or so, he started on Yellow Box Cheerios like most kids do. We then introduced Honey Nut and he’d then ask “can I please have the Cheerios with taste on them!”

I worked for General Mills for 6 years and I used to tell people I was the guy that poked the holes in the Cheerios.

Go Gophers!!

Definitely an oversight by the committee, but I don’t know who I would bump
Impressed by the committee’s transparency - I doff my chapeaux to them.

I would bounce -

. Rich "El Guapo" Garces

Was stunned he ranked ahead of Francis.

Before that nickname came around, my friends knew that I had dubbed him “Ever Ready Eddie” and I still think that’s a better name.

Top 5 Twins' nicknames:

5. Frank "Sweet Music" Viola
4. Willians "Tortuga" Astudillo
3. Rich "El Guapo" Garces
2. Bombo Rivera (given name: Jesus Manuel)
1. Jim "Mudcat" Grant

Great list. Did The Committee™️ consider Senior Smoke? Fantastic nickname for Juan. Or The Rat for Gary Gaeitti?

Win Twins!!

Again, the committee had a blatant oversight with the omission of "Senor Smoke" (the committee's attempt to procure this list hunched over the computer while wolfing down their lunch at work speaks to the limitations of multi-tasking). The committee doesn't feel they should bump anyone from the list, since the honor was already bestowed, so the list has expanded to six.

In regards to The Rat, consideration was given, but ultimately he didn't make the list because:
a) as often as not, he was also referred to as G-Man, which weakened the strength of The Rat as a primary nickname.
b) the committee's aversion to this rodent. There's only room in the heart for one rodent in the committee's heart.

It's my understanding that the committee didn't want to face litigation for copyright infringement from former Philadelphia Flyer, Ken "The Rat" Linseman.

Cesar Tovar - Pepito
George Mitterwald - Baron Von Mitterwald
Tommy Hall - The Blade (one of my favorites)
Graig Nettles - Puff
Johnny Roseboro - Gabby
Luis Tiant - El Tiante (not sure what ‘Tiante’ means, but it sounds badass)

Great list. In a former life I was a nationally ranked chess player. Once our kids move out and we have more free time, I do hope to get back into competitive chess to some degree, knowing I'll likely never get back to where I was.

Go Chess!!

As long as you have fun and enjoy the challenge!

To Ope's post, I've been thinking of trying to start up a cribbage league this winter. Tournaments are fun in their own way, but it would be even more fun to have it be social among people who all know each other, and we could mix and match partners.

Top 5 Pints of Guinness in Dublin - not in order:

1. John Kavanagh - AKA The Gravediggers. Great stop after a tour of Glasnevin Cemetary
2. Davy Byrnes (go see the first edition of James Joyce's Ulysses on display)
3. The Stags Head
4. The Celt - Fantastic Irish music most nights.
5. The Hacienda - Gaining renown for visiting celebs to visit, if you're into that kind of thing.

Tied for 6th - Every other pub in Dublin, except for The Temple Bar...if you hear a customer in there with an Irish accent, they're lost.

Top 5 Pubs for a taste of Whiskey in Galway - Again, no particular order:

1. O'Connell's Bar - Amazing beer garden in the back
2. Garavan's - Unbelievably cozy place set in a building going back to 1650
3. Taaffe's - You can count on traditional Irish music here starting every day at 5:30
4. The Dáil - Also part of the Galway Whiskey Trail
5. The Crane Bar - If you are lucky enough to catch the rooftop music session, get ready for a treat and count yourself lucky to have been there.

The Mist would be my easy #1. Great movie with a terrible ending.
As a Horror genre nerd, I wholeheartedly disagree.

The ending of "The Mist" is what makes that movie so memorable. The look on Thomas Jane's face when all is revealed is legendary.

Agree to disagree. It’s like if Rocky had trained for a long time to fight Drago and then once he got punched a few times in the 1st round, he just quits.

They fought so long to survive and then just gave up so easily when they didn’t have to. It would have been a little better I guess if they were in some kind of imminent danger at the end. But they weren’t. Completely illogical IMO.

Did Rocky win the fight in the first movie? 🙂

No but he tried to win
Interestingly, I found this little tidbit about the ending of "The Mist" that I didn't know. You're not going to question the judgement of the King of Horror, are you? 😉

Most Disturbing Horror Movie Endings

The Mist (2006)

Infamously, writer-director Frank Darabont changed the ambiguous ending of Stephen King's short story "The Mist" in which strange, eldritch creatures descend upon a small Maine mountain community out of mysterious fog.

To his credit, Darabont knew his audience needed a real gut punch, and King himself approved. Our hero David, his son and a few other survivors might've gotten away from one horde of monsters, but they don't know how widespread it is. The best movie ending is one you never see coming.

My five top bands. I’m dating myself

Tool
Rage Against the Machine
Alice in Chains

Chevelle
Guns N Roses
The Cult
Audioslave
Black Sabbath

I love myself some Volbeat. The guitars absolutely shred on 'Doc Holliday' and the lead singer sounds even better live than on their tracks.

Ok I effed up. Trade out Guns N Roses with Black Sabbath. Can’t believe I did that. The Cult is damn good too.

Have you listened to Dirty Honey?
