All things Players Coming and Going.

Fair. Or even my off the wall prediction of Whipple. If you can get a PP QB, you replace someone or push Phillips out. He's going to get absolutely exposed next year.
I think Phillips would really benefit from a year in the USHL for sure. Has some tools to eventually be a shut down, physical guy but he’s a ways off right now

1. Gadowsky
2. A starting goalie (Reidler my pick so far, Bentley goalie more experienced but only one year, ideally a better option than both available)
3. Eisele
4. Ludtke - In
5. Sabo - OSU

Absolutely brutal that MSU is keeping Augustine and Stramel and bringing in Lindstrom, this guy on D, Strahl as the BACKUP... And probably gonna get even more.

If Gadowsky was going to play for his dad it would be done by now. He's going to end up elsewhere.

They’re also about to play for a FF, could see them keeping it low profile to let the current guys have their moment

I read online someone close to the Army program saying it would be unlikely. It also made me think... A parent that sends their kid to the Army... Maybe not the kind of relationship where he's pumped to play for dad.

That’s an interesting angle. Hadn’t thought of it that way

I just heard from a source close to UND about Boisvert. No reason to believe this is not true.

He got a $200K+ raise to move to BU. I think the Boston and Michigan schools are on a different NIL planet than the Gophers right now.

There’s also a ton of sour grapes in that fan base about him and Perron right now (with them saying he got 80k; went to college there and it’s near home so have a lot of friends who are fans still). They also day our first line was getting several hundred k last year. Until numbers actually come out, it’s hard to know what’s real but agree when they leave and are do not contact, clearly something has been offered

I would doubt that the kid was recruited hard by any of the big programs. Seems like the players at the service academies had only one D1 offer, and that was from that service academy. So my guess is that he didn't end up at Penn State because coach dad didn't want accusations of nepotism (like Doug Woog got, and like Don Lucia got). Now, since the kid was a Hobey nominee, nobody is going to accuse dad of that. My guess is that he will be a Nittany Lion.

Homer likely to UND. Better hope he is not ultimately the #1 goalie from this cycle.

Christian Humphreys and Noah Powell are both ready to come back to college hockey. Both will have a real impact over their next three years. Just don't know if we'd actually have a shot at either.

Whitelaw probably WMU

Saw one rumor of MSU backup goalie to the U. Seems possible because Bob is scared of tall NHL goalie prospects that might be a little raw. It would be so typical to go into next year with a mediocre goalie and another that has played in 11 games the last two years. Right back to the same problem.

Suppose I shouldn't overthink it because I want next season to be the Motzko farewell tour so we can move on starting in 26-27 (24 years after the last title)

With it gaining more steam it's pissing me off more and more. Another year where you'd know goaltending won't be good enough to back a title.

DiPasquo
Souliere
Airey
Close
Barto
Lafontaine

PATHETIC recruiting.

most people who are fans of other fan bases are not pleased that DiPasquo is possibly coming here, particularly the ones from UND. He's had outstanding stats but yes is undersized and *gasp* he isn't drafted.

I know you know this, but the NHL is almost exclusively drafting based on size now and thinking they can coach you up further. There are 16 NHL draft picks on college hockey rosters this year. Chase Clark for AIC was bad this year, Musser for CC doesn't even play and has been bad, Tyler Muszelik (UConn) got surpassed by an undrafted (omg what?!) guy in Tung who immediately went to the league after the postseason, Croteau put up a .903 Sv% this year, Koskevuo (Harvard) a .902, Gajan's advanced metrics (not to mention his Sv%) at UMD are terrible.

I get it. You want a Fowler, Augustine, Sergeev, etc. So do I. But we have also had solid goalies each year (not spectacular by any means) including Laffer winning a Richter award in a year he was outstanding. DiPasquo has looked good any time he's played. Let's see how it plays out rather than just look at that he's small and doesn't have an NHL draft tag on him as the reasons he isn't good enough given I know there's no way you've watched enough tape on him to know

There is no reason Gopher hockey should be bringing in backups from other conference teams that have played like 12 games to be the starting goalie.

would you feel better if we were bringing him in from the BCHL with this statline?
36-3-1, 1.7GAA, .922 Sv% regular season, 16-0-1, 1.99GAA, .924Sv% playoffs

He would be a starter on other teams. You were all over the Reidler train who was also a backup.

No on the BCHL statline because Nathan Airey's stats there and undrafted. BCHL is getting weaker and weaker and the top teams dominate which usually leads to a goalie or two with crazy stats.

Reidler is big, drafted, and has three years left. His upside as the future star goalie of Gopher hockey is way better.

based on that he's drafted and tall. got it. I assume you also want Chase Clark then?

I'm just trying to understand as last year you wanted Scarfone (with no mention of Sergeev).

Personally I don't like their strategy of how they goalie recruit and would love if we'd have a young guy in the pipeline but I also don't have an auto opinion that DiPasquo isn't good enough when the sample size and data don't support that (nor that Reidler is a better option purely because he's bigger)

Chase Clark is out because he can't stick with one team more than a year. Sergeev I'd have to look back on when he entered and if we already had Souliere or if he already had PSU picked out when he entered.

European big goalies are the future. It's time to give one a shot if you don't know how to recruit the best MN goalies, which he doesn't.

DiPasquo feels like more of the same from Motzko.

i mean just big goalies in general yes. I do think we should recruit euros more and would think we'd have some connection with Ranta, Haula, etc having played for us in the past as well in terms of knowing contacts there.

Conmy (UNH, LAK 6th rounder) to the portal. 64 points in 2 years. Kind of an interesting one though I'd assume he stays out east purely based on where he's from and played

Probably BU with how they are loading up. As of now my clear #1 going into next year.

think much of this depends how much they lose to the NHL this offseason but they certainly look like they will have a ton of talent again.
