All Things Players Coming and Going (26-27 Off-Season)

Just saw a new IG post - Christian Humphreys committed. Post was 15 minutes ago.
He’s been committed for about a month. Would imagine this just means he’s coming in and still committed post Larson

Pourier finally in and gotta think it'll be a big gun. PSU, MSU, BC, BU, DU

Is he a center?
If he were I'd have put the Gophers in the mix but alas... finding a contender level 1C and 2C in April is essentially impossible. We gotta hope for a couple 2Cs probably.

Poirier to PSU which is exactly where I would’ve expected

I feel like that’s an odd thing to post from the NTDP account the day before players commitments, don’t think I’ve seen them do anything like that before. That being said I have no other idea on what it would mean.
I also didn’t really get it. Maybe announcing some alumni events or or feature games or something (have I guess done this in past with jerseys?).

I don’t think they could or would announce anything like this for commits, especially as that would be extremely tacky to have not done it for others and may damage their relationship with other programs they want their kids to go to (like the pretty extensive mn pipeline)

Fiddler official to DU. Would assume this means they're likely done for high end D guys coming in for next year with him and Lin

Talan Blanck (played in the NAHL last year) commits to Wisco, adding to their usual 21 year old freshman group. this was his 3rd post HS season, so in theory he'd have 2 years if the new legislation goes through for hockey

Looks like Max Heise is decommitting from MSU and going to end up at Denver

Xavier Villenueve confirmed for BU and seems like they'll bring in top 5 pick Malhotra.

Solid add. Nothing flashy. Penn state feels like a team that’s going to have a major step back talent wise and idk if Gadowsky is a good enough coach to make them better

On that note, it’s part of why I lol at anyone who comps McKenna to Marner given Marner is a great 2 way player and McKenna offers nothing defensively and is a walking character issue

Any inclination as to why there seemed to be a mass exodus from PSU after the season?

106 points this year gets that, so what do Humphreys and Kvasnicka get? It's a potential top six winger right away
Solid add, nothing flashy.

Anyone expecting Kvasnicka (100 points) or Humphreys (105 points) to come in and set the world on fire is overly optimistic. Hope is top 6 winger for both of them as well out of the gate. Luckily we have much less to replace up front. This guys a year older and in his 5th year in the O, he should come in ready to go. But it’s not like he’s McKenna.

So, solid add, nothing flashy. They need those. It’s a good get for PSU for what they’re now needing to replace

Lots of guys ready for pros. Transfers id imagine it’s part of it’s hard to pour into a school who is willing to pay mercenaries to come in (and to pay them handsomely to boot) while not valuing your hard hat guys who were there before the money got big

The McKenna sitch should help them long term, but it’s also going to rub a lot of guys the wrong way

Thanks. I had wondered if Pegula was cutting back on his spending of if their players didn't care for Godowsky.

They are on a different universe of recruiting because of their money.

The Gophers used to be in the "haves" vs. the "have nots". But now the Gophers are in the "haves" but there is another level. "actually haves"

Seven first rounders and counting.

kind of insane I agree. Have been some rumblings that some of these guys may choose to sign post draft pending how camp goes, but we'll see and then is the added part of how long they stay to develop. That team is going to be insanely talented, albeit super young, if they all end up on campus (though I guess we'll see if all these first rounders start to actually look like 1st rounders--> looking at you Lindstrom and will be interested at how West looks, who didn't light it up in Fargo this year).

I dunno if i'd put it as discrepant as you have, given we're actually up recruiting CHL now and seem more in on some guys. Larson has seemed to want to go with a more veteran presence. we'll see how the rest of this offseason and this fall plays out before I'd feel as confident saying that's how it'll remain

They truly are just throwing money at every first rounder they can. I still don’t think they’ll be as good as they were last season and it’ll be too young of a team, but will be super interesting to see.

Also still don’t think that’s the formula for winning it all and you need a better mix of players.

We have to wait and see how Larson recruits, Tarin Smith was one of the best defensemen in the entire CHL. Getting Murr was also impressive.

Look Michigan and BU have both gone the get a bunch of first rounders and watch em go. Both have been mostly flops with that strategy. We shall see if you can add Sparty to that list.
