All Things New Football Practice Facility Thread

I'm sure the boys will love it, and I'm sure it'll look great when they're all installed.

Amelia update:

Donor T. Denny Sanford – the name that always comes up – is more likely to be heavily involved in the football side, not the basketball side.

Other items that will be involved in the master plan include: a football building (offices, weight room, training room), a new indoor football facility (“Because our current indoor facility is just maxed out” with many sports using it, Teague said), a women’s gymnastics facility, a wrestling facility of its own (or an area within Bierman) and an Academic Center for the players that would also include a training table and dining area.

Go Gophers!!

As a closet Gopher fan, I really think that Minnesota needs to make football and basketball practice facilities a major priority in the next 5 years.

If Iowa State can accomplish both on what is a fraction of an Athletic Department budget of Minnesota's, then Minnesota surely should get these done. I really think the new facilities has boosted Iowa State's recruiting in the last couple years (most notably in basketball - the football complex just opened about a month ago.) and Minnesota is going to be at continually larger disadvantage unless these happen.

Time to stay on par with the competition - good luck on these and in your upcoming bowl game against TTU!

Rumor has it Mr. Sanford is really high maintenance. Maturi gave up on him but Teague will not. IMO, Maturi just ran out of gas while Teague will likely get it done.

per Shooter:

"T. Denny Sanford, the multimillionaire University of Minnesota alumnus from St. Paul, and Gophers athletics director Norwood Teague played golf together in Arizona the other day. But Sanford, who three years ago donated $6 million for the building of the Gophers' Hall of Fame and is being courted to help finance a proposed athletics facilities improvement, said he's "got nothing at this point" with the Gophers."
