Toxic masculinity? WTF??? So proud of how far we've come in 2019....
I'll wait for more thorough reviews before making any kind of decision on whether or not to see it. DeNiro is in it though, and holy wowzers he's gone completely off the rails in the last several years. Not far from time for his family to step up and make a decision on his permanent housing options
Two young British privates during the First World War are given an impossible mission: deliver a message deep in enemy territory that will stop 1,600 men, and one of the soldier's brothers, from walking straight into a deadly trap.
Just saw a spot for this - 1917 - during a commercial break from the World Series.....and holy s*#)@*.....I can't wait to see this! Looks absolutely fantastic.

I want to check it out. Big Dafoe fan hereHas anyone seen "The Lighthouse" with Willem Defoe? It didn't get a lot of pub and wasn't in very many theaters but it looked fantastic and the reviews were pretty good. It's not in the theaters anymore that I'm aware so I guess now it's time to wait a little bit until it's available on other outlets.
S2s best movies of the decade:
Spiderverse
Manchester by the Sea
La La Land
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Hereditary
Arrival/Annihilation
Whiplash
Have not seen Dolemite or Billboards, heard good things. Spiderverse is the best comic book type movie I've ever seen. A must see. Hereditary is really different but much better than It IMO. I liked the rest of your movies.Only seen the last three on this list. Whiplash is definitely one of the best movies of the decade. A few more that I'd like to add:
Nightcrawler
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
Sicario
Logan
Baby Driver
It
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Dolemite Is My Name

Ive downloaded Lighthouse on my Apple TV and have watched all but the last 30 minutes so far. Its black and white and dark, sort of loosely based on Samuel Taylor Cooleridge's epic poem, "The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner". I took a break because it had gotten a little too weird, but will finish it up sometime.I want to check it out. Big Dafoe fan here
LOVED Whiplash! But La La Land? Spiderverse? Isn't that the one where Spider-Man is a pig? Even my 9yo sons thought that looked stupid.S2s best movies of the decade:

Whiplash and La La Land same director and composer. Spider Verse just so original and the look of it was amazing. 1/1000 of the movie is spider pig. With three kids under 10, I watch mostly family, animated, and high fantasy films. Best of the decade? Coco. Hands down, not even close.
You should really check out Coco. It's not your typical Disney-Pixar. The plot twist is on par with Usual Suspects.Whiplash and La La Land same director and composer.
