I think the key question comes down to goaltending.

with losing Fiala, it's possible that the team will score fewer goals this season. that puts more pressure on the goalies to keep them in games.

Fleury is a HOF goalie - no question. But he's getting older and I just don't see him playing more than 50 games in goal during the regular season. And the Wild, as of now, are going into the season with a relatively untested backup.

The Wild need to score as many goals as possible - and the defensemen need to have a stronger season to protect Fleury and the other guy as much as possible.

I agree, I was not happy when Talbot bolted. I can understand why he might want to, but it still sucked.

I would think there's a good chance they'll score less goals this season. Fiala had over a point a game last year, that's a lot of goals that he was part of. I guess we'll see if someone steps up or makes a good improvement.

Watched a good chunk of the final pre-season game on Saturday (10/8) against Dallas.

Wild win 5-1. Kaprizov and Zuccarello were really clicking. excellent passing. Fleury was solid in goal.

If they can get into an up-tempo, skating game, they look great. still wonder how they'll fair against a really physical opponent.

1st period of the first 1st game and the wild are booed off the ice. They played well at times but also stood around in their zone at times too.

Oink. Right from the early penalty leading to a Rangers goal on their first PP to the horn. Not cool to get blown out of your own arena in the first period of the season opener.

Hoping this post doesn't hold up.

Whoever developed the technology to not only have rotating ads on the glass but also on the boards for tv broadcast should be sent to North Korea and punished to hard labor. Pretty soon there will be rotating ads on the ice.

Got one back on the first PP....and now the Wild are on a 5 on 3. Can get back into it here. Golden opportunity.

Gotta love Tony the pony calling the 2nd goal in a 5-1 game like it’s a the Stanley cup winning goal.

The top line has been absolutely embarrassing in their own end.

Guerin was doing a pre-season interview and - if you read between the lines - he was trying to tell people that the next couple of years could be rough at times.

with the dead cap room from the buyouts of Parise and Suter, the Wild cannot afford to add veteran players to the roster - at least not higher-priced veteran players. their only option is to bring up a bunch of younger players or lower-priced veterans and hope to get through as best they can.

again, maybe I'm reading this wrong, but from what Guerin said, I got the feeling that the real goal is to develop the young players and get the team in a position where they can contend once the dead cap situation is gone and they can add better players to fill out the roster. But, that won't happen for another 3 years.

I think this was pretty obvious to anyone paying attention to what they did with those two buyouts; not sure if it's surprising or not that Guerin would this openly admit that to the fan base. I guess he feels Wild fans will fill the building no matter how competitive they are. That's a TON of money allocated to something that doesn't translate into any on-ice talent.

Getting run out of the X against tonight. Terrible turnovers, lazy stick penalties, bad zone defense.

Trash icing call leads to the Flower giving up a really soft goal. That killed some momentum.

Petersen does not wanna win this game. He is swimming more than Michael Phelps did in the Olympics.

Maybe trading Talbot wasn't the smartest move? The D hasn't been without fault but some of the play between the pipes has been downright scary.

We've allowed 20 goals in 3 games. That's brutal.

Gooo Wild!!
