Did some guided walleye fishing on Vermilion last night. Ended up getting eight, five that we could keep. Unfortunately the bite has been slow up here and then the barometic pressure changed right before we went out. Mostly the fish were either not biting or just barely nibbling at it.
Did some guided smiley fishing on Mille Laccs with my dad a couple weeks ago. 46 smalleys in 4 hours, averaging about 15 to 16 inches a piece. The guide we went with is now retired but he and my dad get along so well he takes us out. That's not even the best day we've had with him up there.
Also got a few decent smallies out of both the Mississippi in Brooklyn Park and The Rum River up in Andover.
Had a genuinely bizarre day on knife Lake in Mora as well. It was the week before opener and no one on the lake was catching any pan fish whatsoever. They had a crappie tournament the day before and out of the 19 boats that went out only three caught any. Frankly was a little disturbing.
