When I was younger I worked in a restaurant and I distinctly recall seeing an angry waiter bring a steak back to the kitchen. I also distinctly recall seeing said angry waiter slam the steak on the floor before giving it back to the cooks for further cooking. I haven't sent food back since.

This guy is quickly becoming my favorite recruit.
 

Personally I find the restaurant reviews more interesting than the rest of the thread, so far.

About 10 years ago I sent a steak back because nfw was I eating an overdone fifty dollar slab. This was a really nice, but newer place in a nice part of the Palm Springs area. It was an anomaly I didn't give much thought to until the place closed down a few months later.

A few months after that I happened to be discussing this place with another individual, a professional chef with knowledge of what went down (the professional chef community is apparently small) related to me that the group of L.A. investors that owned the place were having a hard time meeting expenses. The restaurant biz is tough. So towards the end these bozos literally fired most of their staff and they had managers back in the kitchen! I mean, how hard is it to cook a steak, right? Anyway, despite the absurd measures the place closed down. It's too bad, it was pretty special for a few years.
 


Trust me I was mortified when my friend sent it back. It was already a waste of good meat to have it ordered "well done."

And I was not exaggerating when noting the now "split filet" came back as two hockey pucks.

No telling what abominations befell that meat when it came back to the kitchen...but again probably a p.o.'d cook but a happy customer.

BTW, I tipped very well.
 



I didn't realize recruiting visits are a meat market!
 



If you like steak, well done, at least order something like a ribeye with higher fat content to keep things moist.

Order a filet and ordering well done is just a waste on a premier cut of lower fat meat.
(Also, don't order the strip well done).

I think the 247 guys are going to have to incorporate this into their ratings - which schools feed the recruits the best on their official visits? We could rate schools on a scale of 1 to 5 steak knives.
 

This thread is hilarious. My husband had a waitress tell him “honey, you don’t want your steak done like that.” And she couldn’t believe we didn’t want a bottle of wine with a cork exploded in it. Probably won’t be sending any food back though.

Well, I agree with this.

I think it just comes from people who don't know enough about food. They want to order steak because others do, but how you enjoy a tightly, bound, overcooked piece for beef, I don't understand.

"Oh, yeh, I like it when it's overcooked and I have to chew it like crazy just to be able to swallow it. Tastes really good that way!"


I hope our recruits are all ordering their steaks to a proper doneness.
 








Looks like an awesome approach to recruiting.
Staff is really outlining what makes our city different than just about any other major program.

Looks like they are going the extra mile on every step to show class.

Almost makes me want to live here.

Not sure how much of an effort there's been to keep Craig Williams visiting a secret at this point but that looks like him in the food line in the Day 2 pictures haha. I'm glad none of the teams from the B1G East jumped in on Beier because he's got the potential to be a great interior lineman. Lucky to have him and seems like he comes from a great family.
