Sorry for the stupid question: how are you able to name four specific teams, but say that we're only going to play two of them?
Not a stupid question.

Albany, Lehigh, LIU, and Quinnipiac are part of the Air Force Reserve Hall of Fame Tip-Off, so I'm making the assumption Gophers will play 2 of those 4 @ Williams Arena. Lehigh @ Rhode Island is the only "non-bracketed" game announced thus far.

Any ideas of who the gophers ACC challenge opponent will likely be? Or, any ideas about who the last 4 games on our schedule will be? Would love to get at least 1 more high major team at home, and another solid neutral/away game, get a couple more quad 1/2 opportunities.

Or even if you don't know specific schools, any ideas about the level of competition we're looking for in the last few games?

Are these games going to be played on Xbox or PlayStation?

Here's my projection of the ACC Challenge pairings from a few days ago. I have Gophers playing @ Wake Forest, and I think @ Miami is another good possibility, as well.

Also have a hunch Gophers will add one more neutral-site game, perhaps @ Target Center.

Albany: @ Marquette
Lehigh: @ Marquette, @ Rhode Island
LIU: @ Gophers, @ UCF
Quinnipiac: @ Rhode Island

Gophers schedule updated above.

This likely a “non-bracketed” game of the Air Force Reserve Hall of Fame Tip-Off, and presumably means Gophers will host LIU + 1 of Albany or Quinnipiac.

Thanks. Gophers schedule updated above.

With this info from Rothstein we can now assume Gophers' two non-bracketed Air Force Reserve Hall of Fame Tip-Off games are Albany and LIU (not officially announced).

Non-Bracketed (bold = officially confirmed)
Albany: @ Marquette, @ Minnesota
Lehigh: @ Marquette, @ Rhode Island
LIU: @ Gophers, @ UCF
Quinnipiac: @ Rhode Island, @ UCF

Selection, did you read something about NCAA changing rules for preseason events? Sounds like the possible new rules would eliminate the kind of thing the Gophers are doing with this event, and prevent the scheduling of games in the event at home arenas, etc. Would not change the number of games, but would need to be sanctioned by NCAA and as I read it (can't remember where), sounded like it would banish the two cupcake home games in these things. I may have seen it on CBS sports, but not sure.

Yes, there are new rules rules, but essentially teams still can play a max of 31 games (or 32 if you play @ Hawaii). Not sure, but in Gophers' case now if you're playing in a 4-team exempt tournament that means you can schedule 29 other games. If you're playing in an 8-team exempt tournament, you can schedule 28 other games. In Gophers' case Albany, Lehigh. LIU, and Quinnpiac are part of the same event, and it appears they'll play 2 of those schools even though they're not required to. I think the big thing is NCAA is trying to get rid of as many of the non-D1 games as possible associated with those kinds of tournaments.

This explains it better than I can.

Ohio State non-conference schedule updated above. Buckeyes schedule essentially is complete. No true road games unless ACC Challenge game unexpectedly is on the road.

Rutgers nabs a really nice neutral-site game. Scarlets Knights non-conference schedule updated above.

Iowa will host South Dakota and Alabama State as part of its own exempt event. Hawkeyes' non-conference schedule updated above.

Just a side note. NET will no longer include scoring margin since it comes out in efficiency anyway.

Interesting that you have UW playing away in the Gavitt Games. Do you know this for certain? I only ask because they have played 2 road games in the series already versus 1 home. That would mean they would be locked in for home games the final 2 years of the 8 year original deal.

Not 100% certain. It’s always possible the Gavitt and ACC games could be flipped in terms of home & road. It’s pretty rare if a team plays in both and plays both at home or both on the road.
