All Things 2026 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

Twins losing the "challenge" game, big time late.

I was looking for the Sunday night game then remembered it’s on Peacock. Really growing the game by making people subscribe to 6 different things.

Satire here but not far from reality.

Peacock sucks.

Idiotic challenge by Wallner. Not smart to look at it to begin with.
Not nearly as bad, but in his first at bat, Buck took a called third strike, and started taking off his protective gear right away. He knew he made a bad challenge.

I think it was a full count though so he would be taking it off no matter if it was a ball or strike.

On Apple+, they have a daily recap of highlights from all the games around the league. For those curious, Eduord Julien is still taking called third strikes to kill rallies.
I’m on the fence as trying to figure out if I’m
More shocked by he or Steve Okert still being in the Bigs🤷‍♂️

Chance of snow around the home opener. The Twins aren't getting an open day after the opener like they usually do (and most other teams are getting).

And Saturday is an evening game. I thought that was generally not done until after the break.
I assume that is related. If Friday is rained/snowed out they would play the make-up Saturday at noon. Although the weather for both days looks crap. They might not play again until Sunday.

This umpiring crew in Kansas City need to be suspended. Never should have started this game.
If it never should have started, that's on the Royals. The home team makes the call if a game is postponed or delayed before the lineups are exchanged.

Get Waller to an ophthalmologist, and I’m not kidding.

He’s been squinting ever since he’s been with the Twins

And I’m pretty sure he’s going to tap his helmet and challenge a strike call on a swinging strike at some point this season

If I'm Shelton, I'd come up with a creative way to get myself kicked out of each and every game. What are they going to do? Fire him?

Something called Laweryson fresh out of the gates with a 20.25 ERA. Every diehard Twins fan on this board should have their SS benefits doubled for doing God's work by watching the team this year.

I do find myself sneaking a peak at the Saints box score every day, though. As another poster pointed out previously, I'd actually watch their games long before subjecting myself to the Twins.

I watched one at-bat last night and saw him issue a four-pitch, bases-loaded walk. I figured it was a microcosm of how the entire season will go and found something else to watch. It’ll probably be weeks before I watch again.

Some farm info for the diehards and not the wussies who panties get in a bind like Mr. Noem over a 1-4 start -

Kaelen Culpepper
Team to watch
Three of the affiliates -- St. Paul, Wichita and Cedar Rapids -- have eight Top 30 prospects each, but Twins fans can stay in the Twin Cities to see a very top-heavy St. Paul Saints team play. Three of the top four prospects, all Top 100 guys (Walker Jenkins, Kaelen Culpepper and Emmanuel Rodriguez) are there. So are No. 5 Connor Prielipp and No. 7 Gabriel Gonzalez. No. 10 Kendry Rojas will join them when ready, giving the Saints six of the organization’s top 10 prospects.

Players we could see in MLB in 2026
Take your pick from that robust Saints roster. With the big league club rebuilding, there should be opportunities for many of those prospects to head over to Minneapolis to make their big league debuts. If Jenkins and Rodriguez stay healthy, Twins fans could see two-thirds of their future big league outfield make a contribution. Seeing Prielipp get some starts and No. 18 Marco Raya help out the bullpen seems pretty certain, too.

Connor Prielipp
New faces
The arms the Twins got in the 2025 MLB Draft -- Riley Quick and James Ellwanger -- have yet to make their official professional debuts, though Ellwanger did toss three shutout innings in the Twins’ Spring Breakout win over the Phillies. Both should be a part of a fun Cedar Rapids rotation.

On the shelf
The Twins got Kendry Rojas from the Blue Jays when they sent Louis Varland and Ty France to Toronto at last year’s Trade Deadline, but the lefty’s stuff was generally down post-trade. He worked with Minnesota’s staff this spring on refining his slider and splitter, and he was touching 99 mph in big league camp early, all encouraging signs. Progress was slowed by a right hamstring strain, but he was slated to face hitters in simulated at-bats on Tuesday, with an eye on joining the St. Paul rotation. Soto is still working his way back from 2025 surgery to clear out bone spurs in his right elbow. He’s looked good in bullpens and is tentatively scheduled to be back in late April or early May, and he’ll head to Cedar Rapids.

Definitely a change in philosophy as there is no way the previous staff would have allowed Bradley to go back out for the 6th.
