Of course. Twins injury news almost never turns out better than you expect.
Aggressive Tom Pohlad can show his stuff and go sign Lucas Giolito now.

Maybe in July. Not now. No one is going to overpay for them in February.I think the bolder move is to deal Ryan & Buxton and shoot for 2028.
One or the other. They supposedly already had $$ to spend and I'd assume some of Pablo's $22 million is covered by insurance. And maybe Max Scherzer, too?

Possible but not probable. Let's not be such fatalist Minnesota sports fans.By July either or both could be injured. Probable.

I would assume so. I think a pitcher who's already had TJS is actually less likely to need it. Plus 12 years ago.Lopez previously had Tommy John surgery back in 2014.
Was he even insurable?

I'm not really worried about trading Buxton. They can. But the return will likely be underwhelming.Given Buxton's track record for more than a decade now and playing the odds because he was relatively healthy 2024, "probable" is optimistic for damn sure.
It's probably 50/50 at best he gets back from the World Baseball Classic unscathed.

Possible. I've never heard of TJS making a pitcher uninsurable. If it did, half the league would be excluded.Lopez himself said he beat the odds by lasting 10+ years for the type of ligament replacement he had.
Usually it only lasts 7-8.
If he knew that, I would think the insurance companies do as well.
From Skor North, the procedure Lopez had it was transplanting a material from his hamstring into his elbow. Maybe that's different, I don't know. I thought it was usually from one's opposite wrist.Possible. I've never heard of TJS making a pitcher uninsurable. If it did, half the league would be excluded.
In any event, they can afford Giolito if they want him. I think going that route and seeing how the first half plays out is smarter than having MLB's first ever February fire sale and getting $0.60 on the dollar plus nuking your fan base/PR even lower than it already is.
It’s possible his days with the Twins are done.On the bright side Lopez likely won't miss any games in 2027 due to the pending Lock Out.
