Miami will be the only southern team in the last three seasons to play in the championship game.
I was rooting for Ole Miss for that specific reason.I agree. Although I pulling for Indiana a part of me would think its hilarious if Ole Miss wins it but LSU never does.
Never trust a man who doesn’t wear socks
Campbell was a starting OL for Tech when Leach was the coach and also heavily invested in the school before NIL as Chairman of their Board of Regents. See link to the thread I started which has a comprehensive article on him -went from the TTU-Oregon NIL bowl to the Indy-Oregon NIL bowl.
re Cuban. He's worth estimated 6billion
If he were to just place half his money in a high yield savings account, he'd have 90million to throw into NIL every single year. This whole thing about how they're wired to make money and so on entirely misses the point. If they dumped it in and sucked, sure could see it. But guys like Cuban, Campbell, Pegula, etc. see a mission or goal and know they have a limited lifespan and can't take it with them. Others will decide to penny hoard and want the "notoriety" of name recognition and control (see Sanford, Denny). Cuban's been on record saying this is all triggered by Cignetti and his relationship with him. Seems pretty on par for how he's done business, at least what's out there publicly.
All that to say, if you have a billionaire backer, the amount of money they have is just so stupid high it grossly tips the scales depending on the sport they want to back
He can write it off as a donation?Very good post and points. I was wrong on Campbell, thinking of someone else.
Especially if IU wins the natty this year .... mission accomplished. The novelty instantly wears off.
Why should Cuban continue setting millions of his personal wealth on fire? They did it already. It won't feel nearly the same as the first time.
South Florida is further north culturally than North CarolinaMiami will be the only southern team in the last three seasons to play in the championship game.
But it just means more.....I have no love for Miami but it is awesome that the SEC is out of the title game again. And the fact that their teams did poorly in bowl season is even better.

Most extremely wealthy people have a Huge EGO and are narcissists (there are no morality virgins at that level); the Curt Carlson’s of the world are rare. They did it already. It won't feel nearly the same as the first time.
Interesting thing is this: watching Miami, it was plain to see that their offense was no better than the Gophers' offense in about 1/3 of the seasons under PJ. ...And many years the Gophers' defense is on par with what Heatherman rolled out there. (Heatherman is a hell of a DC -- wish he were still at MN.)Turned out a heck of an entertaining game. Well played.
Correct. It's a drop in the bucket for him. Grit isn't looking at this through the eyes of a big ego billionaire. I gave the analogy earlier - dropping millions in NIL to support the team is like you or I buying a Gopher hoodie to wear to a game.Because he can. His family will have an irrevocable trust so they’re set for the next umpteen generations - your financial angsts aren’t his.

Cuban doesn’t need to be on Shark Tank either for $, but he is, keeps his name in the spotlight. NIL is their GH, a way to engage their peers in a good old fashioned pissing contest - I would hope he trolls Campbell by sending him a gigantic bowl of Tostitos, if they make it to the Championship game.
If I was the coach of the Big Ten team that makes it there I would push hard to get the home locker room. This came up on Reddit, and I thought it was funny.
Miami will be playing in the title game in their home stadium. But they will be the lower seed.
Will they have to vacate their own home locker room in favor of the higher seed?
It was assigned before any of the playoff games were played. This came up on Reddit, and I thought it was funny.

If I remember right, there was some discussion about a similar issue when Minnesota hosted the Super Bowl and the Vikings were one win away from playing in it.It was assigned before any of the playoff games were played.
Whoever came out of that pod was going to be the home team.
Miami is the home team.
Couldn't write the script much better for Miami to finally get back to championship the year the game will be played in their home stadium. It was assigned before any of the playoff games were played.

I thought so too, but not sure how they call it there. I thought they mightPI on the last play
Miami will likely be a heavy underdog regardless of who wins between Oregon and Indiana.Couldn't write the script much better for Miami to finally get back to championship the year the game will be played in their home stadium.
edit - and just so nobody is confused I am not using the word script to imply things were fixed in any way shape or form.
It would have been a really tough call to make in that situation. They tend to let a lot go on hail mary plays. Big difference between college and pros though is that even if they do call it then Ole Miss just gets another crack from the 20 as opposed to near the goal line like they would in the NFLI thought so too, but not sure how they call it there. I thought they might
I highly doubt that after what they did to Ohio State. They will be the underdog but I bet it is a pretty narrow point spread.Miami will likely be a heavy underdog regardless of who wins between Oregon and Indiana.

SEC is locked in as having the worst record in the bowl season - tied with Mountain West in percentage but I'm giving them the tie breaker as they have more total losses. The ACC will win in percentage, as the two remaining B1Gs play each other tonight (so one has to lose). And yep, I'm not counting the P12 as they only had one game. I'm not sure, but I think losing 10 games in one bowl season is the record.
