All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

Thought I would go back and revisit this thread. Ouch. Holy shit, there were some really bad takes here by a bunch of folks, most notably me. A lot of football left, but some of these tickets aren't going to be cashing. The only serious money I had on any of these was the Bears not making the playoffs and even that isn't a given right now. Pretty unlikely, but not impossible.
what was the number on Mason? Would assume that hits though may be the only one with a realistic shot left other than Vikes to catch the Bears and push them into 4th

That's actually why I don't want him back. This was as healthy as he's ever been and he still missed large chunks of multiple games. Get someone younger/faster and get a decent screen game going.
Yep.

I never found a number for rushing TDs on Mason. I use BetMGM and it seems they never had it as far as I could see. Couldn't really find sack number props for people like Greenard or Van Ginkel either

The inexplicable collapse of the defense is still the largest factor.

Yeah yeah, obviously QB is a factor. OL is a factor. Play calling (abandoning the run game) is a factor.

It’s not inexplicable though. You let your run stopper dt go for two overpaid other options, lost some secondary help, Harry has gotten older and slower and your defensive mvp from last year (Gink) hasn’t been healthy nor has your best LB (Cashman) so you have guys playing out of position and your communication is lacking

They are giving up a whopping 0.2 yards per rushing attempt more than last year at this point.

This is not remotely all due to Harrison Phillips being gone. If they don't want to hold Flores accountable for the defense, they at least need to look at who is coaching the DL/Edge position.

You draft a 20-yr old Edge rusher in Turner, it's a little unsettling it doesn't appear the D-staff had a great plan for developing him. He's still just 22, the door is obviously not closing, but what have they done with his talent in the last 18 months?

They’re giving up 40 more rushing yards a game and have given up the 3rd most rushing first downs. For a team that thrives when teams get behind the sticks and behind the game (see bengals game). Teams are finding efficiency running against us and are in the mid teens in efficiency versus 2nd last year.

The turner stuff I also agree with you on. Lots of people high on him and we’ve made him look no better year over year to be the player this team needs him to become over the long haul

Honest Question -
With what KIC and company have accomplished in two if the previous three years, maybe they deserve a little more slack?

Look at Fleck and the rebound after the Cal L, sometimes you need to hit the bottom to reach new heights.

If we beat Det, then what?

KOC has accomplished Zero Playoff wins and has lost the last 5 games to Detroit, 1-5 Overall.

The Vikes hadn't lost 5 in a row to the Lions since the first 5 times they played them as an expansion franchise.

6 would be unprecedented.

Kwesi- ‘ I don’t get down to the practice field too much or watch a lot tape. I spend time in my office.’ Oh yer a real doll.

Just looking at giving up 40 more rushing yards per game without also taking into account the increased rushing attempts per game is shoddy analysis.

Quick hypothetical example:

4.3 yards per attempt * 30 attempts per game = 129 yards per game

4.5 yards per attempt * 38 attempts per game = 171 yards per game
