All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

I’m convinced more than ever that KOC just isn’t good at adjustments and adapting. He wants to run a lot of play action long developing plays but that’s tough with an average at best OL.
Or possibly he’s still learning? 🤷‍♂️

I also think having a QB that can run like Daniels isn’t allowing Detroit to be as aggressive.
Yes.

McDaniels is the next LaMar and will win some MVPs before he’s done.

KOC is still ‘learning’ but a rookie QB has no issues

For example: you’re apparently still learning how not to be a donkey; sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly 🤷‍♂️

I can always dig up your negative thoughts on Daniel’s pro prospects in my draft thread, Mr. Oz. 🤦‍♂️.

I’ve Ben (get it Disaster) chuckling about it all season long - thanks for the entertainment champ😉.

Parting is such sweet sorrow, but alas The Land of Nod beckons -

I would then bring up your thoughts on signing Darnold long term. Good grief, sir!

Its just depressing watching Detroit run the ball. That's when comparing it the Vikings.

They are unreal.
Everyone, I assume including you, lauds Detroit's OL. They're one of the best units in the game, right?

Well, how did that work out?

Of course, I am not trying to say "do nothing to our OL, it's perfect". Not saying that at all.

I would be shocked if at least one Guard isn't a new starter, next year. Maybe both. I think Bradbury stays.

JD -- what a cheat code.

When you have a QB that makes the throws, but also can use his legs to simply say "shucks that didn't work out ... guess I'll just run away from your defenders now" and also makes great decisions with the ball ....

Everything else just suddenly starts working. Defense can pin its ears back because they don't have to worry as much about not letting the other team score. And so on.

It just all works.

WeatherGuy, if McCarthy can give us that ... you win.

It didn't work out because they may have had 2 guys left on defense. It was maybe 3......I'm not sure!

Goff 0-and-2 on two great Detroit teams. This year an even better team, and an even worse result.

Ben Johnson probably not there next year.

Rams fans saying "we told you so ..." ??

While I agree that 31 points should be enough to get it done ... what about 5 turnovers?

Washington Defense gets some credit.

Go ahead, please do.

I have no problems admitting I’m wrong. I could be wrong, I often am and was wrong regarding Darnold. Big Whoopie Ding Dong.

Please feel free to research my opinions on Daniels in the Draft thread. 😉

You mean there were two suave, handsome SOBs who knew he was the next Big Thing🧐.

Giddy up Hoss🤠
I'm convinced the media hype and constant promotion of Williams pressured CHI into drafting him #1. I don't think the Bears even brought Daniels in for a workout/interview before the Draft.

There is absolutely no way you could objectively watch Caleb and Jayden play their last year in college and walk away thinking Williams was the better prospect, especially in today's NFL.

Please dig up where I was negative on Daniels then.

Enjoyable watching Meathead Dan Campbell and the Lions go down. The Packers are locked into Jordan Love for $55 million/year and the Lions are locked into Goff for roughly the same amount.

NFC North embrace the suck.

It's late so I am not going to look it up to verify my math, but I believe Packers/Vikings/Lions went a supreme 29-4 against teams outside the NFC North this regular season.

0 fer 3 in the post-season.

Add their former NFC Central cohort, Buccaneers, and it's 0 fer 4.

Maybe that will give Bears fans some solace as they realize they could have drafted Daniels instead. Who they let beat 'em on a Hail Mary for good measure.

Oh, I thought you were taking yourself very seriously when you were going to bring up what the other guy posted.

Threaten to do the same to you and you are this innocent, humble man.

It as predictable as the sun rising tomorrow.

Carry on!

And Washington just shoving it down Detroits throat all night, especially inside the 10, when the Vikes couldn’t do anything against them

Please dig up where I was negative on Daniels then.
After conferring with my consigliere, Mr. Royce Lewis, it’s been determined that continuing down this Road to Perdition, would indeed truly make me insufferable - so sorry, but that’s a Hard No from my camp 🤷‍♂️

How do Washington and Vikings OL's rank, in say PFF grade or overall unit rankings?

Say for hypothetical conversation that they're close to the same. That goes right to the point that you have two complete opposites: JD who can burn almost any defender at almost any time he chooses, and makes good decisions to get rid of the ball or just not take sacks in general, vs Darnold who was a sack taking machine holding onto the ball forever.

Such a huge factor!

Washington's was ranked 8th and the Vikings was ranked 10th. Washington also has one starting OL that was drafted in the 2nd round and the rest were 3rd round or later, while the Vikings is all 1st and 2nd round picks.

Despite all of the constant complaining about the Vikings OL, it was not their biggest issue. Darnold holding onto the ball too long and poor play calling continue to make the line look worse than it is.

It's absolutely ridiculous how much the Lions losing made my whole day/weekend. After being dogshit my entire adult life, it's offensive to me that the Lions are good right now. Detroit is a cesspool, they don't deserve anything nice.

HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!!!

Just some jocularity Frank Burns; guess you never got your ass snapped with a wet towel in HS. Don’t worry, I wouldn’t have let them stuff you in a locker.

If I was serious, then I’d be mean spirited and call them hurtful names, such as: stupid, moron, idiot, etc…. Or looked up said posts I mentioned and escalated it further.

Far from it.

You seem to constantly forget in your never ending efforts to assail my questionable character, that I have repeatedly detailed my sins and have apologized on the board when I’ve crossed the line with another poster. Have you done either? That’s a question only you can answer.

Innocent 🤣🤣🤣
Quick summation regarding moi: I’ve repeatedly broken every Commandment in the Old Testament, except the 5th.

Humble🤣🤣🤣
I referred to myself as a suave, handsome SOB on another post in this thread (even if that is true🧐)

I’m not trying to impress anyone with piety, I’ll leave that to the righteous of the world who seemingly comment on everyone’s sins, but their own, as alas I’m just another poor sinner, who apart from God’s Grace, has no hope. I came to God out of necessity my friend, not virtue.

I’ll just keep trying my best to follow Jesus’ Commandments in the New Testament, as imperfectly as my effort is, and remember- The Joy is in The Journey, my friend.

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:36-40

Right because it doesn't exist.

I've always said Daniels is a RG3 clone, and they both put up very similar numbers in their rookie seasons. RG3 just couldn't stay healthy. Hopefully Daniels does.

The Vikings OL this year was okay. It wasn't terrible, it wasn't elite. It was ranked 16th Run Blocking and 18th Pass Blocking. I mean, if we're going to completely ignore losing Darrisaw, one of the truly elite LT's in the game, we're probably not having a serious discussion anyway.

Yup. Darnold holds the ball too long sometimes. No doubt. It's also one of the reasons why he threw for the 3rd most yards in a season in Vikings history. In his first year in the KOC offense, he's got some things to improve on without question.

KOC has a few things to learn with how to call the running game, that's the biggest issue I see right now. Vikings ranked 14th in Rushing Attempts per game but only 24th in Yards per Rush. That's not good. I said it before, truly elite play callers can run the ball; anyone can call dozens of fancy impressive passing plays.

Definitely not ignoring Darrisaw and just getting him back healthy will improve the entire OL by itself. But this is why I'm not as concerned about revamping the entire interior OL, and why I especially dislike taking a G with their 1st round pick. I believe JJ will have better pocket presence than Darnold and he's a little more mobile.

They can try to upgrade C or G via FA, or a later round pick.

So in summation........practice what you preach.

This where we end up every single time.

I believe that everything starts with the o-line. If you can pass protect and run block, then you can do most anything provided you have average or above average qb, wide receivers and rb's. Don't need great, though that obviously would be a bonus. We have 1 great in JJ.
Vikes became 1 dimensional in the red zone because they couldn't run and, to me, that's an indictment of the interior offensive line.
