All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings In-Season Thread

Nonsense 🙄

Has nothing to do with the main point anyway, so please stop trolling it. I won't be biting further
It's not an attempt at trolling.

Threatening to move to a different state (and all the tax base implications with it) makes it radically different and not comparable to the Vikings. That's just a fact.

The Bears are attempting to put the state of Illinois vs Indiana in their quest for a new stadium, just as the NY Giants were successful at the 70s when they uprooted to NJ. Washington also bailed from the District they landed in Maryland.

No Vikings fan/Minnesota taxpayer would be indignant if had moved to Blaine, Vadnais Heights, Eagan or back to Bloomington. I'm sure it's the same for Bears fans if they ultimately wind up in Arlington Heights (which they have been trying to do for years), Schaumburg or Lake Forest.

Moving to Gary would piss a ton of fans off. Ask Michael Wilbon.

FWIW - I read a synopsis on it via The Athletic iIRC, and they actually already have the needed property in Arlington Hts., having bought the Arlington Hts. Racetrack a few years back and have vowed to privately finance the construction. The issue is that they want tnd state to pick up the tab for the infrastructure for the stadium, which the state has said nay to thus far.

Ultimately they’ll figure out a tax scheme to pay for the infrastructure in my opinion.

The Vikings are at MSP as they flew to Newark and over Milwuakee have to make a Uturn back to MSP. They still haven't left the 2nd time for Newark and still at MSP.

My bad.

Year is still the standard 🤷‍♂️

Given that Jones injury was late in the season, I think it will be pushing it to be ready by the start of next season. Even if he is available to play, his effectiveness could be hindered, especially if he has to learn a new offense on top of the that.

He's younger than Cousins & Rodgers when they had the same thing, but their return seasons did not go so well, and they both had more recovery time than Jones.

Who knows though, it could go better for him.

He proved he can play this season, so if I’m him, I wouldn’t rush getting back on the field - he’s young enough, I think where he can be on a one year deal in 2027 and then cash in on a multi year deal in 2028.

Newark airport is a shitshow. Just a dumpster fire. Would not surprise me one bit if something there has contributed to the situation, at least in part
No it was the 1st plane that the Vikings were on. Mechanical issues discovered on there 1st plane.

Newark still blows as an airport.

The Bears have to be the luckiest team in the NFL this season. If they manage to beat the Packers with Jordan Love sitting on the bench.... WTF.....

If they lose, that 4th and 1 was KOC like.

Snap the ball under center with a guy who is going to catch it 7 yards in the backfield. Instead it goes over his head.

I couldn't stop laughing at the stupidity of it.

If the pack put Santa Claus in at qb.........He'd probable put everything on target

It doesn't matter who they put in at qb.........dimes.......just flipping dimes.

OK, I retract my statements about trolling and appreciate this more well thought out post.

I still say that Wisconsin would never bend over backwards to try to lure the Vikings across river, as Indiana is open to doing for the Bears, so it was never something the Vikings would have considered in the first place.

Anyway, I think we're largely on the same page that this is mostly the Bears trying to force a better deal out of Illinois.

What I'd really love more than anything for this season is for the Vikings to be the team that kept both the Lions and Packers out of the playoffs.

Think that's possible if Packers lose out, Lions lose next two, and Cowboys win out (mainly depends on beating Chargers this week).

Fly in the ointment of that would be if Bears lie down last week of the season, with division sown up and no way to improve seed. Then again it's a massive rivalry and would think they'd hate to be the team that let the Packers into the playoffs.
Damnit!

Of course the Packers beat the Bears tonight. So much for that.

I'll take a consolation prize of keep the Lions out and contributing towards keeping the Cowboys out.

Wonder if that means the Packers will lay down in the last game of the year, if they can't improve their seed and it's locked up?

It's more like the Vikings moving to Fargo or Sioux Falls. When the Vikings threatened to move training camp to Sioux Falls the governor at the time had a fit.

Correct, that's also part of why the comparison wasn't like for like to begin with.

Quite fair.

Aside from any negotiation postering, I also have a hard time fathoming logistically it could work out. Traffic from South Bend to Chicago after Notre Dame games is helliacious. I would expect it for Bears games to be exponentially worse.

It's not like the Vikings are going to be forced to eat at Roy Rogers and wait for their luggage at Carousel G.

I would expect the charter experience to be much different than commercial travelers.

Maybe the Wilfs have some favorable influence in their hometown.

I meant how they operate the airport in general. It's not worth beating to death, forget I said anything. From an operation standpoint, I know of several instances of just jaw-dropping decisions they've made.

The Vikings will be just fine. Less than ideal, but they'll be fine.

I can hardly believe what's happening in this ridiculous Packers-Bears game. Good grief...

I got what you meant about Newark, I was just having fun with it.

I do however think an NFL franchise's charter is going to get some special dispensation.

😆 Good one!

During OT I was trying figure out how a 2nd Tie for the Packers would have worked out for the NFC North standings and future results.

The Bears scored before I worked out the total implications.
