All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings In-Season Thread

Ravens are a 4.5 point favorite.
Each week, ESPN has 3 reporters pick the games and nfl.com has 5 reporters pick the games. All 8 predicted Ravens to win Sunday.

Many are not yet convinced Vikes are for real. That is a pretty large spread going against the home team.

A big task Sunday. We have dug ourselves into a hole. A win against the Ravens would be huge. A loss means we need to go 6-2 or 7-1 rest of the way.
Well, damn. You were right. Was not able to watch the game, but checking now looks like we were not competitive in this one. McCarthy throwing 2 picks probably didn't help. No idea how defense did or how they were expected to do against an MVP like Jackson.

We were never going undefeated through this stretch of the schedule.

There are some broke dick dog losers on this thread who treat every single loss as if it's the end of the world. They need to set the keyboard down and stop posting here or watching the Vikes for about a month plus, is my prescription. Anyway ...

Goal should absolutely still be to make the playoffs. Winning at Detroit still proves that it's possible.

I was born and raised a Vikings fan, but I’m sure glad I have the Seahawks as my second team.

Atop the list of abhorrent fanbases in the NFL, one would likely find the Cowboys fans, Eagles fans, and Seahawks fans (I'm sure I'm missing one or two more?). It was barely 15 years ago you couldn't give away tickets to a Seahawks game and now they suddenly want to call themselves some great fanbase; the "12", LMAO...

I have to say as far as the heavyweights in the NFC as it sits right now, the Rams, the Seahawks and Detroit sure look really good right now. I was 100% wrong when I thought the Lions would take a big step back this year with the coaching losses and the OL losses. Those 3 teams are going to be tough to beat. The Eagles might be in that group if healthy, not sure; I don't buy Green Bay being anywhere close to that tier of teams

We actually outgained them 365>321.

If we didn’t set a world record for false starts and were cleaner with the ball, this was a very winnable; the Vikes beat the Vikes.

McCarthy throwing 2 picks probably didn't help.
The killer TO was Price’s fumble on the kick return, which gave theme a short field for a TD.
No idea how defense did or how they were expected to do against an MVP like Jackson.
Besides the aforementioned yardage stat, Henry was held to 75 yards and defense held them to 12 points until 8 minutes left in the third quarter, 4 FGs, with 3 of those being in the Red Zone.

The offense needs to play better, like we did against Detroit. JJ wasn’t accurate today.

At end of first half, didn't run clock and instead gave up a field goal.
Shot ourselves in foot.

Early second half, Price's fumble led to a Raven's td.
Shot ourselves in foot.

Not to mention the penalties, batted balls, missed open receivers, etc.

So much foot shooting.

I agree we still have chance at playoffs, there is just so little margin for error anymore. Would be quite the feat if we pulled it off at this point

Next week Vikes vss Bears. Bears have the 7th seed, which is the last playoff spot. It is important we don't stink next week.

7. Chicago
8. San Fran -0.5
9. Carolina -1.5
10. Minny -2.0

don't really see a reason to get a QB. If JJ goes down, the season is really going to be about evaluating what they have on the roster as they weren't going to find a FA or trade deal gamebreaker anyway so see what you have in Max to find out if you're going to cut him or keep as your clipboard guy if need be
Especially as next year they NEED to hit some things in the draft so you need all the draft capital you can have
Welp.

4-5

Keep preaching, and the more you do while not watching the game, the better I guess. LOL

The Vikings averaged 6.7 yards per run attempt and 5.7 yards per pass attempt.
If they aren't false starting 8 times or calling schit plays on 3rd down........they'd have put up 30 today.

3 turnovers to 0, 12 penalties, and stupid, mindless plays and we were in the game. It's a miracle they had a shot.

Just like the Eagles game, there for taking.

Showing up and playing well in all three phases ala Detriot game isn't a big deal; being consistent weekly is.

How parochial of you. The Seahawks struggled for decades until they caught lightning in a bottle with the team Carroll put together. They were very good for a few years and then the rebuild took a while, and now with the Vikings’ outcast Darnold helming the team, they are doing very well. The Seahawk fans are not the arrogant crowd you think they are. At least no more than then when the Vikings win. Just like any good fan base, they are going to celebrate when their team does well.

Here’s some info regarding yesterday’s False Start Fest (from Alec Lewis’ article in The Athletic) -

In the last 25 years, only once has a team committed more false starts in a home game. It happened in 2009. The Bills, quarterbacked by Trent Edwards, lost to a lowly Browns team. They were flagged for nine false starts. The last time a home team was penalized for eight of them? In 2005, the Rams, still playing in St. Louis, blew a lead against a lackluster Eagles team.

——-

They have also have an offense only meeting scheduled to clear the air.

If the plan is to simply drop JJ back 7 yards and throw the ball 40 yards down the field every time, it ain’t gonna work.

The lack of keeping drives going with passing on 3rd and 4th and short is just maddening. I thought the whole reason they made the investments in both lines was to be more physical. Dropping back on 3rd and 2 to throw is now being more physical.

That's KOC's kick ass offense

Whenever McCarthy doesn't do well, it's KOC's fault.

Whenever McCarthy does well, it's because he's amazing.

Would it be too much to have 1 Minnesota men's sports team that is really good. Just 1.
I believe our MLS team just dodged their own collapse in the first round of the playoffs, winning in game 5 by needing PK's at home? Something like that ... I don't really pay attention to it, to be honest.

🥴

I'm just going by what I see in the stadium when I go to the games. Those three fanbases are the fans I least ever want to see when I go to the game. At least the Eagles and Cowboys have a long history of supporting their team.

The Vikings averaged 6.7 yards per run attempt and 5.7 yards per pass attempt.

This is probably the most alarming stat I've seen. I'm admittedly a KOC (and KAM) homer fan, but the complete and utter allergy and aversion to running the football has to change. 13 rushing attempts between Mason and A. Jones is just not acceptable. 13.

One of the guys I listen to likes to use an interesting metric for looking at a game. He says you are likely controlling the game if your rushing attempts and pass completions total at least 50. For the Ravens, this number was 53 and for the Vikings it was 38, and the Vikings number is probably actually lower considering 5 of those rushing attempts by JJM were obviously scrambles off passing plays.

🥴

Game 5, are you sure? I thought 1st Round was only Best of 3.

I was only aware that the Minnesota representative qualified for the MLS Playoffs because it was an option for action while I was in a Vegas Sports book last week.

I passed.

If the coach thinks throwing it 42 times with a qb in their first fourth start against a team with a damn good secondary is the way to go...........well, ya, it is KOC's fault

and to top it off, you are averaging 6 yards per run.

If you'd have seen the game, you would agree with me.

And yes, McCarthy did not play well.

I think KOC put JJ in a position to not be successful, with his aversion to running the damn ball.

That and 8 false starts.

That's just hideous.

JJ was part of the problem yesterday, but the veterans need to help carry him while he learns, and they were mostly trash yesterday.

Those two picks yesterday were Jefferson one on one, despite what you think of those calls.......Jefferson falls down on one, and then stops running on the other. He has to make the catch at the goal line, too.

We just played like trash yesterday.

The defense was pretty good when you consider it was Lamaar!

All part of the process….lulling the future scheduled scout teams into a lull. Rap show nordo.

That and 8 false starts.

3 of which were committed by O’Neill🤷‍♂️
