All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings In-Season Thread

DAL traded for DT Quinnen Williams from the Jets for a 2026 2nd & 2027 1st. He's a huge talent but far too many holes in that Cowboy to make a difference.

I gotta believe the Vikings will pick up a QB before the deadline gets here.

I'm not so sure?

They have John Wolford on the practice squad, who I would guess spent time with KOC in LA (too lazy to look?)? He may not be a Pro Bowler but he's played some football, has some starts under his belt and are they really going to get anyone MARKEDLY better without a pretty healthy cost?

I could see KOC having some faith and comfort level in Wolford and staying the course. At the end of the day, where they are in the season right now and current record, is a backup they would acquire at the trade deadline going to really "save" anything for them?

Maybe but I'm assuming they will want someone they're more comfortable with having to start several games like Wentz did. It's obvious they weren't comfortable with Brosmer so can't see that being the case of someone like Wolford either.

Welp, we got our answer. Nothing happened so they're gonna roll with what they have.

It's a big sign of support for Brosmer that they aren't trading for a QB, and don't seem to be that interested in free agents at this time either.

don't really see a reason to get a QB. If JJ goes down, the season is really going to be about evaluating what they have on the roster as they weren't going to find a FA or trade deal gamebreaker anyway so see what you have in Max to find out if you're going to cut him or keep as your clipboard guy if need be
Especially as next year they NEED to hit some things in the draft so you need all the draft capital you can have

So just hang it up for the year?

It'll be interesting to see who they list as the backup this week and who they list as the emergency QB. I think Brosmer was listed as backup against the Lions.

I believe Brosmer was the only other QB on the 53 man active roster period. Wolford is still listed as on the practice squad.

I was thinking in terms of if JJM misses just a half or maybe a game or two, that they might want to have a veteran step in instead. But yeah if JJM has to miss a long period of time, might as well see what they've got with Brosmer.

thats super fair. either way, I think its also fair to turn it over to Max if you think he's worth rostering in the first place.

Let's hope its not an issue as we also need to see what JJM has in the bag too and that he's developing

I don't think there's any fear to put Brosmer in there. And they need to know if he can be QB2 going forward for 2026 and 2027. A guy with a handful of career starts who's been on the team for 2 weeks doesn't give you a better chance to win just because he's a "veteran" IMO.

Plus we could always just throw Wentz back out there :sneaky:

This is the one I’m talking about.

Been meaning to check out Luke's Patreon page stuff sooner or later. He does a really good job of breaking down stuff; a little too deep in the weeds for most people (including me) on a lot of things but a lot of good information nonetheless.

EDIT: Whoops!! Misspoke, that wasn't Luke Braun from Locked On Vikings, that was Chase Daniel. I know Braun said he did like over an hour breaking down every single play for JJM after Sunday's game as well.

Damn. Somebody dropped $60,000 on the Raiders, on the ML at +400, tonight for TNF against the Broncos. That is some serious disposable income. I heard another casino took another very big bet on them on the ML at +375.

This is a wild take.

I get that you're being a Gopher homer on a Gopher site, which is not only allowed but encouraged.

But it's not going to be something taken as real, anywhere else in the country. He's an undrafted rookie.

I love the Jackson pick. Think he will be great for us for years.

That said ... feels like a third of the plays in this highlight video are nothing more than him getting out of his stance ... and no one rushing him. Such a weird thing to include in a highlight tape.

So what? Nick Mullens wasn't drafted and he was our backup for the last 3 years.

Heard on KFAN, think this morning, that any Ravens game the past almost 30 years is an incredible predictor:

win it, and you go to the NFC championship
lose it, and your coach gets fired that year (or that offseason)

He wasn't a rookie those years?

I'm talking about 2025. This season ... where we just proved that this team can still do something major.

He was early in his second season where he was still a year younger than Max is today.

If McCarthy goes down they will start Brosmer. Who else would they start?

My hope is Vikes get to 9-6 going into our last two games of the season. Home against Detroit and GB.

Go 3-2
Balt
Chicago
At GB
At Seattle
Washington

Go 2-0
At Dallas
At NYG

Not going to be easy by any means to get to 9-6, but after today seems like a possibility.
If we're being true to ourselves, and talking about our mindset before last weekend:

which of these games would you have said was more difficult than @ Detroit?

None of them.

We just won, the hardest game.

Now obviously, we aren't going to now go undefeated through all these. Of course not. But not a single one should scare us, given what we just did.

You were talking about Mullens being a backup for the Vikings. That was his 6th-8th year in the league.

Yes, Max is older because he had a covid year at New Hampshire.

If JJM goes out for the season vs Balt, yes Max finishes the game. But then you seriously consider Wolford and you also look at who is sitting around.

So what, he's still been a backup since the beginning of his 2nd year.

Max has already been the backup for several games. No they are not starting Wolford or someone on a different practice squad over Max at this point.
