All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings In-Season Thread

that is very little and O'Neill is aging
We're all aging. You can add Redmond, Donovan Jackson and Van Ginkel too if he ever stays healthy.

It's not great at the moment, but everyone acting like they're the worst team in the league and need to trade everyone and tank is way over the top.

Wentz has reached 100% on the Dobbs scale. I feel bad for him.

McCarthy obviously starts next week. First game action in seven calendar weeks .... at Detroit.

= next Bryce Young.

Of course it does. Duh. It's the Vikings. And it's a KAM draft pick.

We are an aging team with no young talent. All the people you are talking about are 30 or approaching 30.

Name our young talent.

I'm of course being a bit hyperbolic about needing to start completely over but realistically, without a viable QB, the rest of the roster is rendered relatively moot.

The lack of a true PG on the roster is...nevermind...wrong thread.

And let Cam Bynum walk in the process who happens to be having a very good season for Indy.
They got Theilen.........flipping brutal

They paid for the center and he's possibly done......flipping brutal

They paid big for the right guard, who has been average at best......flipping brutal

They didn't have much draft capitol this year due to bust Dallas Turner........flipping brutal

They signed two interior defensive lineman who can't stop the run but can at least rush the passer, oh wait, they aren't rushing the passer........flipping brutal

It's all on McCarthy.......if he busts, this could be a decade long fade

Mike Conley or Harrison Smith?

Decade? Jesus. It's the NFL. The Patriots looked like hot garbage one year ago and you'd have been calling Drake Maye a bust.

I hate to agree but this is probably correct and we could be in big trouble if JJ isn't that dude.

Allen and Hargreaves were a total disaster signing.

Turner has been pretty brutal

We signed fries and Kelly...and now Indy has the best OL in the league YIKES.

AVG is AWOL, Hockenson looks totally washed. It's bleak.

Now that said IF (and at this point it's a giant IF) JJ is great, a lot of things are fixed. He's the youngest QB in the league so have to give him time, but the red flags and warning signs are ominous.

And fair or not, MN sports history pays into this. Our teams always suck, it's a tough scene. Save us Medved!

Being really bad would actually be fine for a year or two. You reload way better than perennially being just not good enough or a little too bad. Unfortunately if that’s the case neither kwesi or KOC will be with the team to see it

In hindsight, I wish the Vikes had hired Coach Khaki instead of KOC.

A couple of exciting regular seasons so far but Jack Squat to show for it in the NFL Tournament.

Isn't Herbert a pretty good QB?

Are the Chargers Super Bowl champs?

Getting a good QB is not automatic guarantee of anything.

Fries has been a fine RG. Brandel is fine at C. Jackson is already fine at LG as a rookie, and will become even better.

Missing both Pro Bowl bookends is a kick in the nuts.

Blocking star edge rushers with a TE is the stupidest thing ever.

QB taking sack after sack is on the QB.

OL is just fine, when healthy.

Run defense .... I just don't get it.

There's absolutely no chance that it's solely on the (interior) DL. They rotate guys all the time, so not like the two new guys are in there all the time. Also hard to believe that one player (Van Gink) being out makes all the difference. You telling me if Phillips had stayed, that would made the entire difference? No chance.

Something is fundamentally broken and I have no idea what it is. They weren't this bad last year. How many guys are different??

Not what my eyes have been seeing, but let's run with it.

We need something.

yeah i can't say I agree with the prior post saying the OL has been ok. The PFF grades are bad.

KOC does need to change his offense to adapt. there's way too much reliance on deep over and deep out routes which doesn't work with our current OL set up.

There were times in the second half where we lined up in a 6 - 2 defensive front and LA just ran it wherever they wanted. Too many guys were either not being gap sound and or could not hold their gap because they weren’t strong enough.

You aren't going to win many games without your two bookend franchise OT's and the guy you planned to be your starter this year. The Chargers looked like ass the last few weeks without their Tackles, people were writing them off; Alt and Pipkins come back last night (they're still missing Slater), and their offense looks great.

I'm INFINITELY more concerned about the defense right now than the offense. The defense is largely healthy and they couldn't look much worse. Yes, they were gassed last night, but holy shit...

JJ McCarthy is 22 years old and we've seen him play for about 6-7 quarters. I'm going to reserve judgment on the QB situation (or the whole team in general) until we see 4-6 games of a healthy JJM behind at least MOST of what was supposed to be the starting OL.

Can’t imagine if JJ was QB last night. Wentz was the sacrificial lamb. This team sucks from top to bottom and it starts with KOC

Isn't Herbert a pretty good QB?
Herbert is a Top 5 QB talent in the NFL for sure. He's suffered from poor coaching and OL play in his first few years.

Under Harbaugh with an improved OL and supported by a viable run game, he's flourished. I'd gladly take him for the next 10 years as our QB.

If Herbert was our QB, we beat ATL, PIT and probably PHI leaving us sitting at 6-1 and an entirely different aura surrounding this team.
Are the Chargers Super Bowl champs?
The Chargers currently have the 8th best odds to win the Super Bowl at +1,800. The Vikings are 23rd at +12,500.

Where are you putting your money?

True...having a good QB doesn't necessarily guarantee team success.

Also true...having a poor QB virtually guarantees no team success.

It's remarkable how bad Hockenson has been since his return from injury. Is he just being that slow to get back to 100%, or is he cooked? He was a genuine threat prior to injury.

what you don't think anthony lynn and brandon staley were super helpful in coaching the kid having him throw 600+ times a year?

So advantage push between Khaki v. KOC on that aspect.

I would prefer to have the HC that just won the head-to-head match decisively, went to a Super Bowl and has a CFP Championship.
