All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings In-Season Thread

Unfortunately, in hindsight the best bet was the Lions at +205 Money Line at kickoff.
The rumors of DET's demise appear to be greatly exaggerated. Their OL was incredible tonight. Due to injuries, I had to start both Gibbs and Montgomery and was down by 46 points going into the game.

Feeling guilty about handing my brother inlaw a bad beat, I sent this to him along my sincerest condolences:

Lions just gashed Ravens on the interior. Not sure if Lions that good or Ravens that bad.

Speculation about Kamara being on the trading block and why he’d be a fit for The Purple. It’s a hard pass for me, unless Jones is gonna be out 4+ games with his hammy.

Vikings’ Dallas Turner Sets Career-High With Andrew Van Ginkel Sidelined

After a breakout 2024 performance by Van Ginkel, the Vikings signed him to a one-year extension to keep him under contract through the 2026 season.

That’s left some concern for 2024 first-round pick Dallas Turner‘s path to more playing time. He was buried behind a Pro Bowl tandem in Jonathan Greenard and Van Ginkel and played just 310 defensive snaps his rookie year.

However, with Van Ginkel limited in Week 3, Turner turned in arguably the best performance of his young career, tallying five pressures against the Bengals.

Turner is just 22 years old and seems capable of stepping into a larger role, but Brian Flores also has no problem playing all three outside linebackers at the same time.

Through three weeks, the trio all rank as top-20 pass rushers in Pro Football Focus’ Pass Rushing Productivity, a rating that measures sacks, hits and hurries relative to how many times they rush the passer. Greenard is tied for ninth, Turner ranks 11th and Van Ginkel is tied for 17th among 223 qualifying pass rushers.

Gink Suffers Injury Setback After 1-Game Return

Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl edge rusher Andrew Van Ginkel may be dealing with an injury that could continue to linger this season.

After missing Week 2 with a concussion, Van Ginkel made his return against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. He played just eight snaps but was incredibly effective, tallying two sacks on Jake Browning.

However, those eight snaps were a sign of some concern for Van Ginkel. He landed on the Wednesday, September 24, injury report with a neck injury after dealing with neck issues that sidelined him for most of training camp in August.

“He came out of the (Bengals) game feeling pretty good and just his head…kind of some residual issues more tied to the neck, I would say,” head coach Kevin O’Connell said. “He’s out of the (concussion) protocol and cleared that through the medical process last week, and now we’re just working through what his week is going to look like leading into Sunday.”

O’Connell’s update is optimistic for Van Ginkel, but it is another piece to a troubling start to the season for the Vikings, who have already dealt with considerable injury issues and kept star players on a pitch count.

Van Ginkel will likely be subject to a throttled workload as a precaution so long as this nagging neck injury lingers on.

Another All-Pro signed out of FA?

When you watch the clip, you’ll see his technique for knocking out/stripping the ball is elite - incredible angles from on field cameras.

No VanGinkel this week. A concussion followed by a neck issue doesn't sound good.
Yes. Per the post below this is the same injury which sidelined him through much of August camp and neck’s are tricky and scary as heck.

Fortunately, Dallas has shown by his output that he’s more than ready to step in and make significant contributions. I’m hoping for a four pack of sacks on Sunday.

I introduced PA to the gink moniker. I lived to rue the decision

That is awesome. Thanks for posting.

I just never notice him in the game.

My perception of your posts is that you seem to spend your time seeking out whatever negativity you can find (or manufacture).

Looks like most everyone back for this game, other than the main known outs of Van Ginkle, McCarthy, and Jackson

Kelly back at Center. Hope that lasts

We're still missing our tackle machine in Cashman as well. Blake, Gink and Greenard are so crucial to the schemes Flores wants to run. Lets hope Turner continues his improved play.

On a side note, Cam Bynum has been a monster this year for IND. Wish we had found a way to keep him next to Metellus even at the expense of parting ways with Harrison.

On This Date in 1984: Cleveland catcher Jamie Quirk's ONLY HIT of the 1984 season was a walk-off home run off Ron Davis with only three games left to play in the season. (Quirk entered as a defensive replacement in the top of the ninth.)

The Twins were tied for the Western Division lead with seven games to play but this was pretty much the nail in the coffin.

The night after Quirk's walk-off, Frank Viola and the Twins blew a 10-0 third-inning lead, again getting walked off in the ninth. The Cleveland starter in that game was Hermantown graduate and Golden Gophers all-time great Jerry Ujdur in what turned out to be the final game of his career.
